I have a 1969 camaro it's been passed. Down to me in the family from all the badges it indicates it is a RS/SS but when I do a vin search not at all comes up it just saying to old of a vin what can I do to find out as much information about my car ???????

Start by going through all the paperwork that came with the car. Was there a vinyl pouch in the glove box? That's where the owner's manual and original warranty folder would have been stored.
There's a tag in the engine bay on the firewall behind the power brake booster. Post the information on the tag. Someone here will be happy to de-code it for you.
You may be able to research ownership history on it. Every state is different; some retain history many years back. Some do not.
Congrats on the acquisition!

Plus you can also click on the NCRS Historical Service link above to find out what dealer you car was billed to and probably sold at, often helpful when searching a vehicle's past history...please note the cost is $50 and not all cars are in the system.
Welcome aboard!

Just little things like the alternator bracket got me wondering, but all of that stuff might have been changed even if it is a factory 396.
