Does anyone know for sure when the "flat spoke" Cragar SS started to be manufactured? Thanks in advance for the info.

2005-ish give or take a few years.

There was a Cragar Rep on Facebook today and I asked him if they would consider changing the current SS wheels back to the original more rounded spoke and rim shape. No response...

Not shocked over that one. They would either have to switch manufactures or retool the equipment that makes the spoked part of the wheel. Probably not enough demand versus cost outlay.

The rep replied that he will talk to them about the more rounded spoke and that's a possibility, but the change in the rim curve was highly doubtful.

Why did the change such an iconic item when at least on the spoke design...it couldn't have actually saved them any money...

They should have never stopped making the round spoke in the first place ... BAD MOVE!!

So nice... I'd be tempted to reserve them for display only purpose. Trust me, keeping chrome Cragars clean is a total PITA

Do these appear to be the correct round spoke Cragars, I know the cap have no R on them..
If so, what's a reasonable amount that one should pay? Seller has 4 says they are all 15x7
And he's asking $500.00
he's a foreigner and kinda PITA because his English is poor..so not really sure they are all 15x7
And he lives about 1.5 hours away...

Thanks guys
I do need a rear set of deep dish/reversed for my build...but only 2...what's a fair price if these are in good condition?

Thanks

The one in the picture you posted looks pretty nice. IMO, the $500.00 isn't too far out of line if they all appear as this. Nice, clean, round spoke style are getting harder and harder to find, even in uni-lug. If it were me, I'd probably try to get them all (and ask for "wiggle room") and either keep the spares or sell them and maybe even make a buck or two.

I would but them right away, if they were local. For $125 each seems like a steal in that condition. If you only want 2, I'm interested in the other 2.

I paid 50 bucks each for mint NOS non R caps recently. That's a deal for the set no matter what they fit. They look like reverse 8 inch wide to me.

Thanks guys
You maybe right on the 8"
That's the problem with thus guy he says
15x7

Fits chevy well maybe ford. Lol
It's a 4 hour round trip to find out
what they really are. My luck
They are 14" idk
If I get a chance to pick them up I'll let
you guys know about the other 2 I don't need.
Thanks

Where are they?
Reach out to others on this board who may be closer to them then your 4 hours and have them inspect em for you.
I'd glady do it for you if they're near Chicago.

Thanks for the offer mr70
I have arranged a time for Saturday to look at them....anyone have a guess on the bolt pattern?

I've found that some of the Cragars have identifying info on the rear of the rim. You might want to ask the seller to inspect them closely on the back to see if there is any info that might help you figure out exactly what they are.

volquartsen
05-26-2016, 02:31 PM
Yeah that would be nice, except when I ask him any questions out of the ordinary he just says come look at them you can see...not very good English, I've tried....but I'm willing to take the drive and see, if there not what I need, maybe I will pick them up anyways being that they are the old style wheel someone might be able to use them....

markinnaples
05-26-2016, 02:37 PM
You might want to do a Craigslist search for the areas where he's located so maybe you can find some other Cragars, etc. that you can look at while you're going that way anyway.

15x7 reversed but ford pattern believe dated 69
Owner wouldn't drop a dime off
his asking price..I need GM pattern
so I passed. Couldn't take the chance
of dumping 500 on them and be
stuck with them. If they were
NOS I would have taken the chance.
Thanks for all your help guys
