Her's my beater, been sitting since 1999, going to get it running in the next couple weeks. It's a 68 Lemans 350 HO, 320 hp, 3 speed manual, posi, PS, PB...meridian turquoise with gold ivy interior...very odd car huh. I got the PHS on it, and it had special ordered radial tires also...I didn't even think they had radial tires in 68'??? I bought it from the original owner 3 months ago. I talked to the owner for a few hours before I bought it...very nice man, awesome stories about him and the car. He wanted someone to preserve his car and baby it...I told him that I was the guy, and he sold it to me.

Add a nice set of day-2 wheels... and you'll be all set!

Very very nice lemans Sir. Love the color combo and the buckets seats. Add some day 2 cragars and drive that beauty!

I'd add only a set of Coker F70 pinstripe whitewalls with those stock wheelcovers. You don't see that every day. Would definitely turn heads.

I was thinking about some F70-14 redlines, they might look good also...but the white pinstripe tires might look even better

This is a VERY cool car! I haven't seen one in this color combo before. As for radials, they were first available (for Pontiacs anyway) on 1967 Firebirds. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif

Nah, go with the white pinstripe look. Redlines would look wrong. Maybe a size bigger than stock. F70 should work.

I'll post some pics when I get them on...and I am most likely going for the pinstripes.

I agree with the pinstripes. Leave the hubcaps. Great cruiser. Considering where you live, you probably won't even miss not having factory air.

Very nice.

Did the original owner happen to say why he ordered the three speed (assuming he did)?

I have a friend who ordered his '72 GTO with the three speed simply because he preferred it over the four speed.

he said insurance was cheaper with a 3 speed, thats why he didn't order a 4 speed

Nice! (lol); I know our GTO was insured as a "Lemans" for that same reason.

Thanks for the follow up -

Was the 72 three speed a Ford top loader?

If my memory serves me correctly, 1969 was the last year the Ford top loaders 3 sp were used. That 72 probably has the M13 Muncie. But it is hard tellin' what has been installed in the last 40+ years. TAZ

I hear the Dearborn 3 speeds are tough as nails

I have the Dearborn trans in my '67 360hp GTO. Shifts nice but I'd rather have an extra gear.

The Dearborns have a whine to them don't they, kinda like a M22...first gear can really be heard
