Motion referred to them as "status emblems." Or at least someone did in an old Cars Magazine.

I'm not sure whats cooler ... the emblems or the Motion packaging ... I need to pick up a set of even the repops just to add to my overflowing emblem collection

Nice Find
thanks for sharing.
the orig owner of my 68 Camaro did not want them installed on the car
so Motion gave him a set.

I got them from a guy down in Mississippi. He explained "I ordered them from the Motion Performance catalog around 1970 - 1971. I had always hoped I would one day have a nice Chevy where I could attach these to the sides of the cowl induction hood, so I've been carrying
them [and that pipe dream] around for some 40 years. It's time to move on..."

It amazes me how much cool stuff is still hiding out there!

Probably for two reasons. One, he didn't want to scare-off potential street races and two, he didn't want "steal-me" bait.

Does anyone know if the GM supplied SS-427 came in a box, never seen one myself? I have a NOS piece with a wire tag on it. I know Motion was big on the blister repackaging (a MR Gasket disciple) ...Love to see more of what Motion repackaged.

Like that! Joe Oldham's awesome '69 was stolen and you can imagine many such killer street machines suffered the same fate in the old days.

The original owner of my 300 Deluxe Post Sedan SS put this same SS427 emblem on my car back in the day... on Day Two!

Is this the same emblem. I have 4 of these NOS and they have part number 7752254 on the back of them. Here is a photo of 2. Larry

The SS427 emblem is the trunk emblem used on the 1968 Impala SS 427

Motion used it on a lot of cars, even Corvettes

at one time it was hard to find, but was then re-produced

found these at a yard sale, I thought they would be the toughest piece of the puzzle.
I just need some emblems and a 427 now <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/burnout.gif

You found those side pipes at a yard sale??? I wish I could score something that sweet. Gotta take a ride out to East Hampton/Springs area. this summer. There were always good yard sales.
