WOW! That sure brings back some high school memories- all the rich kids had new 79 Z/28s! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/grin.gif Beautiful car.

I don't know much about the interior details on the later second gens but did the factory not spray the trunks with splatter paint in '79?

wow super cool! I grew up near Stockburger Chevy in Newtown and knew the Sheithouer family who owned that dealership. I have to know the cat as I was graduating HS in 79.
Looks great except for the paint fade/peel on the rear bumper. They all did that

I LOVE THAT CAMARO! Man, as stated above, the memories that car brings back are priceless. Second Gens are totally underrated so best of luck with your sale, but that is one beautiful Z.

Interesting. Learn something new everyday. I guess they changed the process in the latter part of the 1970's. (My Gramma's 75 has the spatter paint)

Trunks were spatter painted untill early 78 Steve.
Buddy of mine always tells me if you don't learn something new everyday then your not living.

This car is really temping me.

Loved my Dads 78 Z/28. Talked him into buying it off the showroom floor. I had never driven a car that handled so great before that. It moved pretty good too. He had the dealer install Trans Am wheel fairings. In 79, the front fairings became standard. I also talked him into doing a burn out with me, but the Posi in the rear made him slid to the curb and he stopped.

I know we're hijacking the thread but also creating more interest for the car. Here is my high school parking lot circa 1979 (the two rich kids cars are up front) <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/grin.gif :

I graduated high school in 80 and went to U of Fla. My good friend there was a super rich high school kid who, for his 16th birthday, recieved a new brown 79 Z and a matching brown bass boat and trailer that was pinstriped to match the Z !!

Soon after college I bought an 81 Z for the wife. Also had a handful of 78-81 Z-28's over the years. I loved the way they handled. But hated the door sag !!

Beautiful car !! Good luck w the sale !!

Bought a new 79' Z-28 -- local Chevy dealership had a set of keys for it ... that shows how many times had to take it back to get worked on. They replaced the T-Top seals twice ... replaced the tan carpeting (it faded to green) ... replaced the Q Jet ... in the sunlight you could see the primer through the paint on hood ... and that's just the major crap with it ... Must have been built on a Monday AM or Friday PM. Traded it for a low miles 83' Hurst Olds. TAZ

Love seeing the original rides and pictures. I also see the original tires. I know, they are original only once, but just to let you know, the Goodyear Polysteels are available in reproduction.

I remember selling alot of GY Polysteel radials back then and i believe they are remaking them now for this reason
and I could only afford a 10 year old Z then ;-)
