Frigidaire by GM

Saw a refrigerator for sale at an estate sale over the weekend. Still kicking myself in the ass for not buying it. Frigidaire by GM and it worked for 200 bucks. Never seen the logo before it was pretty cool. Went back hour later it was gone. Larry

I saw a complete GM garage door opener for sale at a garage sale several years ago and wished that I had bought it. I had no clue that GM ever made them nor why.

I think $200 is a steal... There was a white/red GM fridge for sale by a well known NYC antique dealer and they wanted $2000. It reminded me of a '53 Corvette or Futureliner. It wasn't restored well quality wise but it was converted to modern cooling spec. I'd go back to see if you can snatch up the unit. They're great

I had no idea GM or Stewart Warner made refrigerators. They had replaced the compressor with a newer style so it wasn't numbers matching any longer. Cool piece I wont pass on the next one. Snooze you loose. Larry

I love the old GM stuff and have parted out the items I couldn't save. I've repurposed a few items including this ol Mini fridge which was about to hit the scrap heap. Add some old badging off an GM fridge and a few decals and it's a retro soda cooler. I used some other fridge badging and trim and made some scale GM signs for my die casts.....

Of the many things William “Billy” Durant did in his early years, his success at creating a company that produced horse drawn carriages led to him being the general manager of Buick in 1904. With stock money from Buick, he formed the General Motors Holding Company on September 16th 1908. At that time GM was just as its name suggests, a holding company that had purchased 13 different automobile companies, including Buick and Cadillac and a large number of parts manufacturing companies. One of them was Frigidaire.

Many companies made things you wouldn't normally associate with them. GM transmission made M16s for the military. During WWII big companies made all sorts of products. International Harvester made M1 Garand rifles (the tanker models are really nice). And IH too made refrigerators We used to make a lot of stuff in this country. And we were really good at it. Seems not so much anymore.

Also, Pontiac used to make barrels for the M-39 20mm cannons used on many of our fighter aircraft. TAZ <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/flag.gif

We had to scrap out our GM refrigerator at work because it didn't have a grounded plug even though it still worked perfectly. Before it was junked I saved the emblems. It had a date of 1956 on the back.
