I just recently picked up this license plate frame for my 67 Impala which is an unrestored survivor and not a show car, but very clean and nice. This is the original dealer where the car came from. I have searched high and low for a plate frame like this and they are pretty much non existent.

Anyhow the frame is in good shape but by no means perfect. It has some patina and I cleaned and polished it the best I could. Question is would you leave it as is or have it re chromed and re paint it, basically restore it??? I even thought about lightly brush touching up the painted areas but had concerns if it would match correctly.

What are your opinions??? Just "throwing it out there"

Thanks Rich

Lightly brush touching up it will look good.

DON'T DO ANYTHING MORE TO THAT FRAME!.......AND YES I'M YELLING.
It's perfect the way it is,and even moreso that the car you're putting it on,is in the same shape.Polishing off the patina isn't something I would have done.
Although not a Tiffany Lamp, your story reminds me of that Lady who polished hers and devalued it 60% that day,and more for future generations.

I like it like that.

It's yours. Do what will make you happy when looking at it. Since it is unique to your car, you won't have to worry how your choice will effect value to others. I could go either way, but if the patina doesn't match the rest of the car, I may lean toward light cosmetic help.

Remove any dirt with a soft sponge/soap/water...and that's it. Leave the paint as is.

Find some weathered attaching screws from a junkyard. Don't buy new ones.

Nice find Rich, leave it alone and screw it to your Chevy. New red will make the white look like crap, then the white will make the chrome look like crap, then rechromed the whole thing will look like crap...It's RARE and perfect as is.

Here's another cool ride from Brooklyn Chevrolet, factory 4-speed '69 Malibu, factory docs...looks like Brooklyn also used a decal.

Says it has a muncie trans.Looks like a saginaw trans, not a muncie. Didn't think they would put a muncie in a 307 car. Very nice car!!

You are correct. That's not a Muncie. But, the shifter may be a Muncie and have it written on the handle, so the owner probably just assumed the trans was a Muncie.
