On a BBC, where do the oil pressure and temp switches go for a '69 Nova with idiot lights? I assumed that the oil pressure went into one of the holes above the oil filter, but mine has a line (for gauges) coming out of the front of the block (??). Also, I assume they are the typical switches - nothing special?

Water temp would be in the driver's side head...oil pressure down by the oil filter. I believe they are just simple sending units. Oil pressure may have an adapter for the angle[?]...I bought an over the counter AC Delco one not to long ago at an Auto Zone store...less than $10.

Thanks, I'll have to check the cyl head as I don't see a provision for one and I don't recall the casting numbers of the cyl heads - they are oval port though if that makes a difference.

On the oil pressure switch, I'll have to reroute it and will check out the angle block - I do recall something like that now, but always assumed it was for gauge cars.

M...our red Cdn L78 had the idiot lite...Bruce E. has the car now...maybe we can get a photo from him. I remember installing a new sending unit when we detailed the car. As for the temp sender...the oval vs square port doesn't matter...the 'vintage' of the head does...the early heads did not have that feature. The #215 castings were the 1st production oval port heads with temp sender provision. [they came out late 67 model year].

Just wondering why you aren't running vintage gauges??

You can see the water temp sending unit just above and in between the 3 & 5 cylinder exhaust ports on my motor here. The oil sending unit hole is empty in the first pic, but it's mounted in the second.

Thanks both, great pic's. I will order the parts today.

As for vintage gauges, we might indeed run them eventually but for now I'm just trying to get this thing running within the next 6 weeks or so. Tall order given the other activities....!
