And don't forget Carroll Caudle out of Amarillo, Texas and his blue and white 55' Chevy at Amarillo Dragway. He ran that car in many MP classes by changing the CI of his engines. Whine, whine, whine was the norm in the late 60s and early 70s. TAZ

Nothing like the sound of a 292 SBC at 10grand! Loved the M/P cars! Makes today's bracket cars seem like a sleeping pill.

No doubt...

Since getting the '62 I have watched a ton of old M/P video. Racing at its best. Once I get the Hitman sorted out I would love to put her back the way she was in her glory days. The key might be if I can handle a high reving stick car.

You can do it Tom. Just dream being at Indy (US Nationals) in 1973 or so running Dennis Ferrara in the BM car for the Modified Eliminator title. He will have to spot you a bunch running his A/MP car so it will be all in cutting the light. Just think 50 lb.flywheel and 6.15 rear gear with a Nash 5 speed. You will never drive a bracket car again!

Well. I do have the 6.15 gear. The guy I bought it from said it was quicker with a 4 speed rather then a 5 speed.

Put the 6.50 in it and then go with the Nash 4+1.

Tom, I have never seen these slower cars slow down with a 5 sp with any gear? Must have been the drivers issues IF the car did slow down with a 5sp compared to a 4sp! Now on our faster stuff with a converter drive, yes we have seen the 5 sp be slower (less efficient) then a 4sp. But when your already going mid 6's in the 1/4, sometimes the converter just doesn't seem to like the 5th gears???? Not sure why that is. I have seen this first hand, 5sp then pulled for a 4 sp. We had BOTH Liberty 4 and 5sp, and about 16 converters to tire. Went through 2 sets of tires that weekend as well. 2600 lbs car, 737 on 10.5w's. And the big motor actually like the PG better then either Liberty's? The 499 A99 Hemi went good with the Liberty 4sp though??
