I was just talking the other day with a buddy and we were talking about the 1971 gto judges. With there only being 357 of them ever produced? Is there any examples of the 11 3spds? We were wondering if the just used the normal 4 speed hurst handle because there was so little produced or did they actually have a 3spd style? The only thing I can find is the option under the judge that said it came with the hurst t shifter? Just wondering if anyone knows per conversation between us since I can't find anything on the web about the 3spd 71 judges?

It had the 3 speed handle.

I know of at least two that survive, and maybe more.

And don't forget regular GTOs received the same handle, so it's not as much an obscurity as you may think.

What does the 3spd handle look like? How different is it from the 4spd handle? Anyone have a pic?

Actually that is NOT the case. The 1971 Judges used a Hurst T-Handle and the 3 and 4 speed standard GTO's used a large black ball.

3-speed Judges used the standard Hurst T-handle without the shift pattern, and 4-speed Judges used the Hurst T-handle with the shift pattern.

Photo shows a standard 3-speed 1971 Judge.
