25 Years...

This past weekend I celebrated 25 years of flying with my good friend Jim Payne [Payne's Air Service, Inlet, NY] Jim is one of the finest floatplane pilots in the world and the recipient of the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award. I consider it an honor and privilege to spend time with him..it is an experience like no other. Our camp is in a remote spot [17 miles from the hard road]..and while you can reach it via ATV...the plane ride is much quicker and the thrill is amazing!

Now, I know we all love the sound of a big block with solid lifters...but, the sound of that Cessna Skywagon with that 300hp motor heading up the lake is pure music to me.

Those are all wild brook trout...and lest you think we 'take too many'...those photos were from 3 different years. The daily limit is 5 fish...if we have 4 guys fishing we may have 16 pushrods <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/rolleyes.gif We enjoy a few around the campfire for dinner and take a few home to enjoy or share with friends.

On my trip last weekend I caught 9 fish in about an hour...only kept 2. Many of the lakes/ponds are mono-culture environments [only one fish species present]. These remote waters have a fair number of fish...and rarely see an angler. The wilderness experience is far more important than the fishing for me. I just enjoy being in camp...doing chores...cooking...and just hanging out with a good cigar and a bourbon. There is no place I would rather be!
