New here fella's and need some help trying to figure out if this car is a Copo or not. Here's what I have found so far.... Ive attached some pictures as well.

X44 Tag
Non Matching 4spd but looks to be a factory 4spd car
Factory disc brakes (factory pedal still in car)
Dual Exhaust Hangar
Has Functioning Cowl hood
Hole in fire wall for cowl hood wiring
12 Bolt with 4:10 gears (suffix codes have been grinded off, really weird)
5 leaf springs
Harrison 4 core radiator with angled neck

Thoughts? Anyway to get proof without any documentation?

Thanks! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics/usergals/2016/07/full-20071-46476-img_2812.jpg

The body number 287221 is close to other COPOs from the same dealer.

I suggest getting an NCRS dealer report. That will identify the dealer it was delivered to. A link to the site is at the top of the page.

On Camaros.net I asked you about the vin and sent you here to compare on the Registry with known COPOs. Have you done that yet ?

Hard to see but is the assembly date 04E. If so the body ID# is very close to my car with a 05A date. That tail pipe adaptor plate is nothing close to anything I have seen. Take the heater core hoses off so we can see what they look like. Is the gas petal still with the car....what does it look like?

If this is the car from a michigan dealer, it is questionable. The hole for the wiring is looking not correct, but would need a better pic of the hole. And removing the hoses would be able to tell if someone just hacked it into a big block heater core from a small block. This car is 50/50 to me and would have to see the car in person to make an accurate decision on if it is real. The build date is 04L.

04L....makes no sense to me. So 12th week of the month build date?

04L is an anomaly; they are interspersed with 04C & 05A tags. Conventional wisdom says it was an error, my many years of manufacturing thinks it is not. There are too many of them. True trim tag errors are outliers like a friends' COPO with an 055 tag date. All other cars built at the same time are 05E.

I think 04L had some meaning to Fisher Body as only they referenced the tag. Norwood Assembly never looked at it.

My very first car I bought as a freshman in HS was a 04L car.
It is just a 307, 3 speed manual car. Here is some information if it helps decipher what the L was for if not a mistake. I was lucky enough to buy it back after Katrina from a junk yard, and found the broadcast sheet on the tank . Car was a non RS car even though someone put an RS front end on the car after I sold it.

It definitely was not performance related as this Camaro was as base as you got other than the V8 option, chrome trim and the passenger handle on the dash, 3 speed Saginaw on the floor with console.

The car being discussed here had 4 leaf springs and what appeared to be evidence of a fuel return line a couple of weeks ago.

I don't like that cowl induction hole on the firewall at all.

vin 9N637253 lines up, but NOM & trans with "maybe" BE (BE part of stamp is gone). RS now, but old photos show non RS.

Starting to look like this may be a "can of worms" type of situation here.

IMHO the cowlhood firewall piercing above the fuse box is correct.

Here is a photo of the KING Chevrolet COPO I found which Jerry Certified.

The harrison radiator is dated October of 69, car build dates april...Seems like a pretty big gap, did they send the cars to another factory to do drivetrain?
