I can solve the National Debt easier than posting pictures here! Not do any hijacking, but if Richard doesn't buy mine or your's, I may be unterested in it. I talked with Richard last evening and he is contacting his friend about mine.

This is the wheel looking for a mate. It is the 2nd design.
I happen to have a 1st design I would love to find a mate for.

Paul, Would you mind posting pics of each style and the dates produced of the 15x4 for educational/reference purposes?

Is that rust on the inner lip?
I'm not sure about the datest on when the 1st design transitioned to the second. My guess is somewhere near 1975, but it could be 1971- just don't have enough data to be sure.
As for rust on the lip, I've only posted the one pic which was txt to me. Have not seen it in person.
I've been meaning to post something on the difference, but I'm not near any of my wheels right now to measure the critical areas. Maybe you can see it here:

Thanks Paul. That helps quite a bit. I looked at a pair at a swap meet in Bowling Green, Ky. My buddy, thankfully, pointed out that they were different. Apparently one was 1st, other 2nd. I know of another set in my area. They appear to be 1st design by pics. thanks for the education. I never paid much attention and I never do on parts, until i am in the purchase mood. You brought me up to curve.
Glad to help. If you find that mismatched pair or a single, I would be interested- especially to compliment my single 1st design.

I'm not 100% sure of the timeframe on differing styles. As rare as these are, either style is tough to find in good shape.

I'm a little late to the party but for reference, my 15X4 Cragars are dated 1971......not sure of the month. They appear to be the narrow design.

Kurt, thanks for that so the early design was still going in 1971.

I remember speaking with Dave ( white top) on this subject not to long ago. I believe the second design with the fatter band was produced in 1976 or 1978 and it ran all way up until the early 2000's before the new sqaure spoke style happened. I have a set of the first design and they're are extremely hard to find!
