Back to running the Hitman Corvette. Did not go as well as with the Deuce, as I did not win a round. But, the good news was, the losses were because I kept breaking out (going to quick). Started out running a couple of 6.91s, then ended up with a 6.78. Also, starting to get the feel of launching as the last two lights were a .025 and a .015.

Awesome. Wow, that strip is truly old school.
Yep. it really is old school, or maybe just old.
There are tracks around that are a lot better, but Newport is closer, and because they run on Sunday afternoon, fits my schedule better. Also, because I have ran there so much, almost like family.
The interesting part, because the area is owned by the state, the pits are second to none, larger then many larger tracks and just recently re=paved.

did the air get better when you went the 78?

One of those not for sure things. I would not think the air, as the fist pass was at 1=ish and it only got warmer after that, air temp and drivetrain temp. The difference was in my 60'. Went from 1.58 to 1.50. They do not prep the track after we start running and there are several street cars which will negate any rubber the slick guys put down. I am wondering if a combination of the motor/trans getting broke in and me getting comfortable with the launch and hitting the ideal shift point.
Need to take it to a good, well prepped track and see how it does. Right after I got it we went to Sikeston, a very well prepped track and ran a 6.66, but nothing close since. We thought maybe one of fluke things, maybe a timing error of something.
Who knows. As they say, if it were easy, everyone would be doing it. Sure is fun trying though.
