1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396. A real and documented numbers matching example of one of the pinnacles of the muscle car world. Originally sold in in Kansas and then spent time in Texas until the current owner purchased it in 1980. Countless hours have been spent reconditioning, and detailing every aspect of this car over his years of ownership. The original build sheet and Protect-O-Plate are included and authenticate every option on this car is correct.

Body/Paint/Exterior Trim:
Solid and rust free body received one correct color lacquer repaint in the mid 80's. Some light scratching/checking and some imperfections are coming through mostly on the hood and trunk (very hard to see in pictures). A few small paint chips and small dings are present from use, but overall the paint shows well, has great gloss and is very presentable. Chrome is nice condition with no pitting or rust areas. Original looking stainless trim is straight and shines nicely, but does have some light scratching in areas from age. Weatherstripping is in good shape and there are no leaks. Trunk and cabin floors are clean, solid and rust free.

Interior:
Front seat covers and carpet were replaced around the time the paint was done and both still look great. The rear seat looks like no one has ever used it. Door panels, side trim, front seat backer boards and headliner is all original. There are some small imperfections in the headliner and scratches in the seat backer boards from age and use. Dash is uncut, crack free and still looks great. Ammeter is inop and fuel gauge reads a little off, but all other gauges work as they should. The only deviation from stock inside is a Sanyo stereo circa 1980's. Window regulators work smoothly and there is no binding with the manual lock assemblies. While this is an A/C car and all the components are in place, there is no charge in the system. Heater and blower motor are all operational. Power steering and brakes are all in good working order.

Engine/Drivetrain:
Original VIN stamped "L34" 350HP 396 (402 cubic inches for 1970) engine that was rebuilt in the 80's, bored .030 over with a Comp Cams hydraulic flat tappet cam installed. The engine is mated to the original VIN stamped "M40" Turbo-Hydromatic 400 transmission that shifts well with no issues, a slightly higher than stock torque converter was installed for improved drivability. Out back is the correct date coded, 3.31:1 geared 12 bolt posi-traction rear end to round out the original drivetrain. Carburetor and distributor are numbers matching pieces as well. All maintenance is up to date. This car was built to be driven and enjoyed without worry, ready for your cross country adventures!

Attention to detail:
Wherever you look there is attention to detail. From the beautiful engine bay, to the clean and detailed undercarriage, the good complete interior and rust free, straight and solid exterior, this car will not disappoint. It is a perfect entry point for someone that wants a numbers matching 1970 Chevelle SS without the nut and bolt restoration price point. It can be driven and enjoyed as is, or easily taken to the next level. For the price of some of the clones out there, you can have a documented, numbers matching, real deal piece of muscle car history!!

Very nice. And an L-34 with the optional T60 side terminal battery as well. You don't see many L-34's with that,as well as the optional extra amp K85 Alt. upgrade. Not surprising,as besides AC,it also received the optional Convenience group & the Auxiliary Lighting group, which meant it needed those extra amps.
Those stripes are nice, but were applied long after delivery and not during factory assembly originally.
