Doesn't look too terrible if it stays around the opening bid price. I'm guessing it will go somewhere in the very low teens. Almost looks like an original silver car judging by the floorboard overspray...I take it that would have been special order?

Nevertheless, for me it's tough to think about sinking tens of thousands of dollars into a '68 Z resto without any docs or original block.

I worked with a guy who had a late LA built 68 Z that was painted Cortez Silver.

Car supposedly has original block, although it's decked. Apparently was butternut yellow w black houndstooth.

If the glove box is original to that car, and rearend code. I would bet it is real.

I would have to agree, some positive evidence there.

Tech Center, right? I remember that guy - I think I bought some DF wheels from him.

Need a lot more than that to call it a Z28. Zs don't grow on trees. :)

Original exterior is Y-2 via the cowl tag.

I don't see any pics of the transmission or axle. Or much about the decked block other than a casting number pic. Might want to compare that glove box sticker to an original...hint...hint...

There are a couple things that could lead one to believe it could be a Z but nothing that has been mentioned here in this thread.. There are also several things that are red flags that its not a Z. Bryon has mentioned one of them..

You are correct sir.......he bought it in CA, stopped at a couple of junkyards on the way back to Michigan. Said he had a cowl hood strapped to the roof for a good part of the trip.

Yep...I remember that story too, haven't seen him since. He told me he sold the car in the mid-2000s, I'd love to know where it went.

Bryon hinted. I don't mind saying. That is a fake sticker on the glove box door.

So you guys are saying the seller artificially aged the glove box decal? How can you tell? I will have to look at the one on my car when I get home this evening.

Help us rookies out, what is wrong with the glove box sticker?

Agreed

Suffice it to say, the glove box sticker is a reproduction. Providing specific details only helps the fakers.

I see nothing solid that suggests that car is a Z28.

As with any car, without good clear pics of the drivetrain stamps - it's a big gamble. Personal inspections are even better though.

Yes, I see ur point about pointing out the specifics would help the fakers as much as anyone. I didn't think about that. Thanks for not being tempted. My bad.

Yes very good point. So if I buy a Z who is the best person to get To authenticate such?

There are several people. It depends where you are located.

Try Jerry MacNeish - at Camaro Hi-Performance.

Fake tire pressure sticker (http://www.ebay.com/itm/1968-Camaro-Tire-pressure-decal-302-Z-28-/271848628311?hash=item3f4b70e057:g:9BcAAOSwcwhVOYb e&vxp=mtr)

So, apparently it REALLY pays to pay $8.95 for a bogus tire pressure sticker, age it with dirt, coffee, heat or whatever, and put it in the glove box of a clapped out 68 with no docs and no history.

Cost of clapped out V8 car = around $8k
Cost of bogus crappy sticker = $8.95
Sale of car $20150

Profit (not including ebay fees) $12,141.05
Hoping the guy that bought it never finds out how bad you just fff'ed him over = priceless.

Hope he never gets another decent night's sleep.

Of course, I am assuming THIS seller was the one who put the sticker in. He or she may have been taken to the cleaners. Hopefull one day, someone finds out. Just to make it easier: VIN not posted but the Body number is LOS 31779
