Don't know if everyone has seen this yet, but I have to say I'm impressed.

That is simply amazing. I saw him hit 180 at the end of the straight. I think I saw him turning at about 170. <span style="font-weight: bold">WITH A WARRANTY !</span>

Yup! That old 2 valve, pushrod motor still earms my respect. Kinda like the fact the majority of the 4 valve DOHC out there can't get it done line that!

I was watching that speedo click off to 180 on the back stretch as well. I was also watching his tach where he was paddle shifting gears to keep revs between 4300 to 6500 for most of the track. Pretty impressive driving skills.

That's crazy fast! The article says that he left the 10 speed automatic in just drive and let it do it's thing and didn't use the paddle shifters!

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">The video itself is almost mind bending to watch, as Drew Cattel, a ride and handling engineer for the Camaro and designated hot foot, takes some of the corners at over 140 mph. Also of interest is he leaves the car’s new 10-speed automatic transmission—which was co-developed with Ford and is making its debut in the ZL1—in drive and never once touches the paddles as he peddles the car around the notoriously harsh twisties. The Magnetic Ride Control seem to be doing its job, keeping the car planted at ridiculous rates of speed and over tarmac that is known to be less than ideal.</div></div>

I read that he just left it in &quot;Drive&quot; as well and let the 10 spd trans do it's job. That car is a beast, and no offense to the Ford guys, but I'm glad it bested the 350GT <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif

&quot;Should I buy one or a 69z?&quot;

The 69Z, since you're asking. Late model car design does not appeal to me.

Buy both <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/wink.gif

Interesting is that the average enthusiast thinks that they can drive like that.

Both the car and driver are very impressive.

I vote new 2017. After you lose your rocketship license, then get the 69 Z.

I'd buy the 69 which has cool all over it from every angle, but rent the 2017 when I go to Daytona for the week.

The cool factor just isn't there with new cars, but they're fun to beat on whenever you rent them. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif

And the classic car insurance would probably be one tenth of the cost of insuring a new ZL1 on a traditional policy!

181mph and knocks 11+ seconds off the previous time leaving it in Drive the whole time ... WOW

Has anyone noticed the DNA of the ZL1 hood? Looks like a C3 L88 style Hood.

NicKey ZL1 convertible and Coupe #001 are spoken for. Our Stage II option (with stock short block) with be at 900hp on pump gas.

WOW, The car and Driver are impressive. If I was a passenger for that ride I would have had a death grip on the car and there would be a big dent when the brake peddle would be. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/crazy.gif

One of Dave Beem's buddies built a 2 piece L88 hood on a 2nd gen that is incredible, lowers the profile greatly... guy is nuts with a english wheel... built a Steel RS nose that is 2&quot; longer than the urethane nose... looks incredible.
