View Full Version : 69 l78 nova
Probably had this question before but I am shooting this by you for a shot you never know. Anyway I bought a l78 nova back in 94 in chicago that had just won first place at Indy super Chevy show in 93. It came out of Eaton Ohio and had been raced as a lot of them were back then, owner was a Tony Hines but he hasn't been available for much, I have now retired and have a little more time for the o girl now so am trying to find out more info on her now if I can. It's a 4 speed car and looks to have all the correct points to be a l78 car but of course no paperwork to prove it. Tony sent me a letter right after i bought it and called it the black lady it also has a Wildman painting on the small left rear corner of the trunk that says street fighter under it and was painted before 93 by Ken Kilm from Lafayette, Indiana. It still is pretty good shape and shows 61k miles which is legit I think. Would appreciate any info you or a member might know about the car. Its black on black and that was the original color according to the tag. Will try for some pics soon.

I worked on this car many years ago , when we redone it , it still had the original carpet & most of the interior... It was raced & had a 427 in it with a roller cam ...

The car spent most of its life in & around Greenville, Oh . ,the whole bottom was painted white , I guess this is something they did back in the day .. It was a bucket seat car with no console or gauges , at one time Tony was going to put a console in it ...factory Black on Black ....

That area was a hot bed for muscle cars. Frost Chevrolet sold many L78 cars including copo's. The black rs/copo resided in the town of Eaton for 30+ years.
Thanks for the info on my nova it is much appreciated. It is still pretty much as it was, original interior, buckets no console and same engine, 12 bolt w/3.31 gears. Again thanks
guys and will use all info for finding more if I can.
Thanks Rob. Yep it was white under at one time for the "wheelstands" in the old days....lol we did some crazy things back then didn't we.....

The guy that bought it new raced it , we talked to him when we redone it & he thought he had something but never found it ..
So Rob could you give any names or specifics on the car or not, it seems you know the first owner and etc. SURE would help if you could. I took a long shot and sent an email to Troutwine auto/chev in Arcanum asking if they maybe had saved any info back to the sixties but haven't heard back as yet.

I know where the guy lives that bought it new , if I catch him I'll ask him if he ever found any paperwork on the car . Did you buy it from Tony ?
I'd like to see some more pics! What's build date?
Thanks Rob appreciate you checking with him. I bought it in Chicago thru a dealer that said Tony had traded it to them for another car. I got Tony's name thru them and the Ohio title.
I can get some more pics been busy with a sick wife in the hospital so give me a little time. As far as build date goes it shows march 5 week 03e.
