I found this picture of my friend Mark's Nova...this was taken at the right turn bend of the entry road at OCIR. Must have been the early spring of 1982?

There was a pro photographer up on a ladder taking pictures of a local Opel drag car near the entrance...and he swung around and took a few pics of Mark's burnouts as well. It would have been cool to see what his pics looked like...but we never even went over to talk to him, LOL <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/hmmm.gif <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/dunno.gif

Anyways...enjoy the pic!

Dave...Mark's Nova wasn't an L79- but...a car ahead of it's time for sure!

It had an LT-1 with the heads modified for heavy duty springs and pushrods with guide plates. The gas tank was in the trunk, the rear was slightly narrowed (We went to school with some of the Currie family) and the rear rims had some trick backspacing as well. It had a reverse manual valve body and 3500 stall converter. Dual remote oil filters mounted to the inner fenderwell, too. Looked like a granny car until you got on it!

The Nova ran a best of 13.04 shutting it off before the lights due to 3 bent pushrods! LOL

The car was eventually sold to Jim Thomas who owned Genuine Suspension....and we never saw it again....

Some more pics of Marks Nova....what a blast this car was! Engine out for cleaning up.

You can make out the dual remote oil filters on top of the engine. The valve covers are off in this pic. Mark didn't know how to adjust solid lifters...so I had to show him <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif
