Does not look like a great restoration that would please most here, but if its real, and the docs are real, its cool to see a Chicago car survive the rust, and still be in Chicago. Only posted as its an RS and its got docs and its a 4spd.

Don't know now, but Volo used to be a top of the line dealer. They bought a 67 GTO plum mist convertible from us and had it only 23 days.

Hate to be a wet blanket, but....

I am not liking that trim tag at all. And, as Scott mentioned, houndstooth wasn't even available in verts other than pace cars.

Why is original owner's name and address smudged out on the POP (two places) and the sales contract?

Very late car; shouldn't an L-78 have an 8000 tach?

Front subframe horribly dented, which is common, but should be corrected on a high dollar car.

Deep rust pits on the firewall were just painted over.

CAUTION fan sticker?????

I'd be very skeptical...could not get convertible in the houndstooth interior except the orange houndstooth in the Pace Cars...."window sticker" states white houndstooth interior...no pic of trim tag...I'd say it was recently built to be pretty.

Darn oldtimers disease. I wasn't even sure on the booster, but figured that's what it was. Looks like a total "put together" mutt with fake tag, fake docs, and HUGE profit margin.

It used to also have a fake broadcast sheet....

NCRS report could at least confirm the selling dealership.

Volo is a 4 letter word.

Besides the fact that it's counterfeit (has anyone ever used that term to describe a car?), it would look better with a white top.

that's a great idea on this car. I do know of a camaro that lost its tag to sandblasting accident (tape blew off tag, blaster did not notice until it was too late). No doubt, this car had a blaster heavily focused on that firewall near the tag.

I did a quick search on that dealer, and it was definitely open into the 70s.

Dealership was open into the 90s I believe. The tag is a fake repro. I doubt it was on when the firewall was cleaned up.

I'd say that "caution fan" decal is real & authentic and therefore makes this car real...deceptive! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/rolleyes.gif

The only reason to get the shipper report would be to prove the car DIDN'T come from City Chev.

It shipper says it DID come from City Chev, it lends absolutely no credence to a car that has a fake tag, fake POP, fake purchase agreement, and, according to Kurt's records, used to also have a fake broadcast sheet. I wouldn't waste fitty cents to find out any more about this car, let alone $50. It's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Anyone know someone at VOLO? Their rep is on the line, and they should be informed about the fraud they are helping with. Like so many of these, VOLO probably took the owner's word for it, and they may have no idea that it is a total fraud. Reminds me of the black L89 in Florida a couple years ago. Totally made up from top to bottom, including docs.

They have a horrible rep already for offering cars like this.

That means nothing there,as many buyers buy a car there, then leave it be @ VOLO and pay their monthly storage fee while new possible owners walk buy it weekly...THIS is where VOLO Auto Museum makes it's bread & butter,on storage fees.

See now that I did not know. I know very little about the place just that they were reputable at one time and judging by what you guys say their reputation has dwindled quite a bit.

I called over there, and talked to one of the salesman I know, car is gone, they already got the wire. Had a backup buyer too.
Came out of a collection down south.

Car is up for sale at Volo again. Seems the person who bought it in December is ill and needs to sell. Does anyone think this car could be a real RS/RS L78? For sure the trim tag has been replaced but how can you tell the POP and Dealer Invoice are also fake?

Charley Lillard

The dealer invoice is fake. To explain why..You could not get that houndstooth interior in a convert. They made a fake trim tag that shows the houndstooth and then made the fake paperwork to mimic the fake trim tag. My guess would be they had to take the car back because the buyer figured out he was sold a fake car.

I also don't see a pic of the trim tag in the current ad ?
