Looks like a new find. I didn't have any data on an 05A Royal Plum car. I'd love to know more about the car. Awesome shot of it at the drags, that's for sure.

Actual condition may not be as bad as it sounds?
Where'd the Glockner info come from?

Well this is weird, or one heck of a coincidence.

Same seller offered up another '67 with a Z/28 4L trim tag back in March: http://ebay.to/2ipdffi

No mention of it being a Z anywhere in the description.

Either he was sitting on two Zs, and only recently learned how to decode the trim tags, or ???

Years ago Bob Harris found that original paint 67 royal plum rs z-28.Beautiful car don't know who owns it now. Hope this one gets restored.

Was not me. I have my hands completely full with two restorations one of those (67 IPC #708) I had to place on hold for an even more significant car in process now.

This area is stuffed with ex Glockner Hi Performance but mostly what is left today is rotters or wrecks stashed in barns.

Portsmouth is a very poverty ridden area these days and the drag strip down by the river has been gone for decades.

I hope it turns out to be a legit Z in good restorable shape. I just find it odd that the seller sold another 67 Z just a few months ago without disclosing it as such.

I was there 4 months ago buying parts from a guy who I started corresponding with on the net. Said that area was drag crazy. As you stated most of the cars I went to look at were wrecks or nothing left but rusted shells. I did take a look at 2 67's but TT were gone. Funniest part, I bought a 67 cowl plenum air cleaner base and lid from him that he was using for a gutter downspot on his garage. Should of took a picture of it before I removed it.

The location of the first auction was in Northern KY about a half an hour from Portsmouth.

The weird thing here is the plum Z carcas may have been scooped up years ago and used as a parts car for the blue car build and not restored due to its overall condition.

Blue car is gone, so it is time to sell the remaining stuff?

Seller states in plum auction he "may have a line on what is believed to be original rear end. Will advise if so and cost for it."

Rear end was in Blue Car perhaps?

That's certainly possible. What are the odds of finding two May built '67 Z cars? In any case I hope the winning bidder is a site member so we can see this thing....

I was concerned about it beyond restorable, or just a cowl with tags. I almost went for it, but seller could not provide pics.

With an attempt to uncover some researchable material on the plum car, I found a championship drag racer out of Portsmouth, Ohio named Gordon Collett. This is most likely the sponsor of this plum Z. There were numerous Winternationals and other National event wins featuring Gordon Collett of Portsmouth. Hopefully the new owner of this Z hull can get a clue or lead in this direction!

Gordon Collett raced a top gas dragster back in the 60s. He was a championship winning owner/driver and owned the class for awhile.

Is that a dent at the front of the drivers door in the enlarged photo?

The picture of the trim tag rivoted on the aluminum plate. If the color code is nantucket blue that had a cowl plenum at one time on it that car was sold out of allentown Pa. Was offered the car and i didnt buy it. Real car.

That's not the cowl tag from the car that the guy had a small cowl section w the hidden serial numbers and the cowl tag and, VIN and complete drivetrain a few years ago , is it? He offered to me a few times.
