Did you post the wrong year? That drive train was not available in 1978. The L-98 was 1985 to 1991 (I think).

I recently bought about the same car 1978 20,000 original miles but mine had a 1968 L88 transplant with a 5 speed. I paid 15k. If thats what he has is a transplant I think it really hurts the value. Mine is original paint interior started life as a L82 4 speed car and I have had the car minus engine advertised for 8500 and not much interest.

That's the way those cars should have been built. Even kept the air conditioning.

----Geez, John. What a fun car for the money. The engine (if good), and trans is worth more than that. Cant believe you still have it......Bill S

Bill thats what I thought when I bought it, The car is a great runner it really is a shame I am taking it apart. I thought some one would want the body to do a cheap LS conversion You cant even paint a car for 8500.00.

Benny C4 arent really bringing much money right now even with low miles. My guess would be about 15k. Any other opinions?

That is the first thing I thought too. Make a fun driver with an LS.

It would Bill, but it would be more fun in a Camaro, Nova or Chevelle

Ha!! Not at all what I meant. Much more fun with the L88, but a 20k mile Vette for $8500. Just add LS and enjoy everyday. Definitely put the L88 in a more appropriate year car.
