Good grief that's a beautiful Vette. Best of luck in the auction, but that is stunning so I'm sure you'll get all the money.
I love the paperwork, great documentation on a rare car. A friend sent me pictures from the auction.

Pictures of my Original numbers matching 1969 Riverside Gold L-89 Coupe I sold in 1998 the NCRS used for judging manuals. Ohio license plate L89 VET. They would have made a great pair of book ends! You have a beautiful car. GLWS

Thank you, it really was a no story, original car. Not as fast as I thought it would be, but my daily driver at the time was a 1990 ZR-1. Boy do I miss both those cars. Great success to you in selling yours. It looks to have been very well done.
Bill
Probably because of the restrictive 2 inch exhaust on 1969 Corvettes. My first Corvette was a 1969 with headers and it ripped.

pics..word on the net is if you have an Iphone, the button must be on the right when you take the pic..if its on the left, the pics will be upside down..it has to do with the code...just what i heard, and many people are complaining about it all across the web..and many say turning the phone fixes it.

Thanks Mark for the input, I'll have to play with that. I think it's time for a Galaxie, but being a Chevrolet guy, I have a hard time buying a "Ford" phone! Just kidding. My Father purchased the 67th 1964 1/2 Mustang ever made back on April 17th 1965, 4 days before the April 21st 1964 debut. I always loved the 1963 1/2 R code XL-500 Galaxie's. Anyone get one of the Google phones yet?
Bill
Very nice looking car. Love all L-89 cars...Good luck with the sale!

Two of the L89's invited to the MCACN display were sold for big bucks this year. The El camino sold for 140ish.

Did the 000001 and 000002 Firebirds sell for 235K ,or 235K reserve not met?? I know they mark them sold whether or not they change hands or not, there is no "bid goes on" type of announcement

It looked like they sold. If a reserve is not met they don't put SOLD stickers on the cars. Did Richard Rawlings still own the cars?

Did Richard Rawlings still own the cars?
After watching it a second time it appears that Richard was the winning bidder.

235K for that pair of cars is more than I would have paid.

LOL...Chuck they were offered to me long before you bought them and at the time I probably valued them at well under 100K for the pair and they did nothing for me. They still do nothing for me. I might pay 100K for the pair now but probably not. Maybe others get excited but collectors I talked to about them at the show didn't see any value. Great they were saved but also great I'm not the one that saved them.
Not exciting, but have historical significance. Glad to see prices coming down. Hopefully chasing off investors. Reggie Jacksons cars want for normal prices. His celebrity did not help sell them.

Well I certainly would rather have the firebirds and 40K cash in my pocket than the 275K hippie van [make that 302K with the fee].

I've restored several original 69 l89 Corvettes. What I found is that if the car heats up with the aluminum heads it loses close to 75 horsepower. When the car is just at perfect operating temperature you can get one or two good rips through the gears and then it feels like somebody took the two end carbs off

I drove that truck in 95 degree heat on the Ohio Turnpike at 65-70 Mph....never once got warm, not even close. I can't overstate how well that L-89 ran.
