Do you trust your vintage gauges ?

Do you trust your vintage gauges to monitor your engines vitals.
I started collecting Sun blue line gauges but I have been having second thoughts if they can be trusted to provide accurate readings?

What are everyone's thoughts on SW reproduction of their green line series as well as other SW reproductions?

Yes I do, Sun Electric made a great product I've been using Sun gauges since 1968,if you have 2nd thoughts let me know if you would like to sell your blue line gauges.

I've looked at the green line gauges and think they'd be pretty accurate with the look of vintage gauges. I'm still leaning towards old school though so you could always ship your Sun gauges to me and put that coin towards the Stweart Warners? I'm next door in Alberta if that appeals to you as I need some Sun gauges for a project.

Thanks for the reply's. Not looking to sell the gauges,as I have a lot of time invested in collecting them.
I plan to race the car so was wondering if others shared my concerns using used vintage gauges to monitor engine vitals. I think I will just run them against a new set for a while till I fully trust them when the time comes.

As long as they work when you test them, i'd have no problem running them on the street. In a race car it's a little more critical to be monitoring the gauges and to be doing so on a constant basis. If one fails you'll see it pretty quickly, but the bigger concern is something in the engine failing while running down the track. If that happens and it's an oil pressure issue, working gauges won't save you anyways. Nobody watches the oil pressure while running down the track if you know what I mean.

That is why race cars have lights with a pressure or temperature switch that comes on when pressure drops or temperature exceeds the range and those switches are tied to a shut off switch to save the engine (sometimes).
Let's see old U.S. of A. made gauges vs. new, who knows where made with cheap parts...I'll put my money in old tested and true U.S. stuff any day.
