----There is some dealer paperwork that purports the car as having (I think) some sort of clock radio. This is absolutely false. I bought the car from the original owner in 1975 and that car was ordered without a radio and had none while on my watch. I believe that Joe Hrudka of Mr.Gasket fame, the third owner or his son had the radio installed, but I'm not absolutely sure. I'm glad Charley has the car and sorry I ever sold it, but bills had to be paid back then the same as today.
----Straighten out the seat belts, Charley! Then go out and take it for a spin. I think you will like it even more then......Bill S

How many l 89 Elcaminos were made

Mr70

400 Chevelle L-89 equipped Coupes,Convertibles &amp; Elcaminos were assembled in 1969.

Ryan1969Chevelle

The 400 L89 engines as mr70 explained were spread across five body styles.

Hard top
Convertible
El Camino
300 Deluxe Hard Top
300 Deluxe Post Sedan

There are at least two of each body style with the L89. Did Oldsmobile build L89's?

Tonawanda records.
</div></div>

Rick, I believe the Tonawanda records show units &quot;shipped&quot;, and not necessarily to assembly plants for production installation. Example. Tonawanda records show over 15,000 '62 409s shipped but only a little over 8,000 were installed in cars.

You would need to find Chevrolet records showing how many RPO L89 options were installed in '69 models.

----Charley,,, That &quot;Joe&quot; would be Joe Hrudkas kid. Right around this timeframe he bought a chain of Dairy Queens in the greater Phoenix area, hence the address at the bottom of the add. I had a chance to buy it back then as well but didn't have the scratch. The original tires were long gone by then as the original owner installed bigger &quot;Sonic&quot; tires almost immediately after he picked it up at the dealer. I might have put the Goodyears on (memory here is bad) but I'm betting that Bill Lipay, Joes buyer and an old friend of mine from Barberton OH took the Sonics off and found some original style Goodyears......Bill S

Eventually he sold it to some guy without the only important pieces that were left, the aluminum heads. The guy just didnt seem to care about the most important part.
