I will be the first to say I spoken with a lot of people on this site and I have gotten a lot of negative feedback in regards to the new format and the way that you have to navigate the site I would have to say I strongly agree that I do not care for the present layout

How do you PM someone on the site now. Thanks, Larry

Larry, go to the User CP tab in the upper left corner of the screen, click on it and tab down and you will see where you can send a PM.. This also allows you to edit/see your profile..

i dunno..if you change the skin to default, its just a v8 bullitin site..just about like everyone else on the net..

go all the way to the bottom of any screen..in the big blue line, left sidel theres a drop down..select default..it is easier..

get used to changes like this..its coming..the age of mobile devices have made the changes necessary for compatibility

IIRC, even the 'old' format wasn't always that way, it changed from something else too. Just takes some time getting used to, that's all.

I had some PM conversations in progress. But no responses and no PMs since the new format. Are people receiving PMs?

The upgrade had to happen. The old site was too vulnerable to attacks. It's not all that different, once you go into your user CP and set everything up.

Jody has been working really hard to get this all fixed (no small feat)-and thanks to Charley for the upgrade (it ain't cheap!)

Give it a few weeks and it will all be good!:youguysrock:

Any idea how I can get it to show me which forums have new posts since my last visit, other than looking at the day of the last post? Also, how do I switch it to take me to the first new post since I've visited last? Thanks every, esp Charley for the site. I was having serious withdrawals when it was down. :)

We've still got a big list of mods for the site, appreciate your patience. There's a reason that pretty much every big car forum is Vbulletin, it's just a great system with a lot of options. Swapping over just gives you a standard setup, and then you have to tweak from there.

Jody, Here's a hint for you and others. I live in the EST zone but I had to choose CST for the time to appear correctly. IF it doesn't get fixed, just select one time zone earlier than where you are.

for some reason after they are opened they still show as NEW thats why there is no color change between old and new.

I have threads going back 9 days that are still showing as new and no one has posted anything in them

I gotta say...I absolutely love the new site and applaud the changes.

It's way faster!
It's way brighter!
It's easier to read!
It's hosts pictures better!
It's easier to navigate!
It has all the newer features!
It's full of great car people!
There isn't a better Car Forum out there!

Needless to say it has some great support too. People who are working to tweak it so that anyone can adapt to the changes and navigate using a more powerful forum software. Change is good people and as this forum grows, it requires a more powerful platform.

Yes there are differences with PM's and such, but it isn't really a big deal at all. In fact, I always purge my messages and don't keep anything that isn't absolutely needed. If it's something I need, I save it on my own computer or email. I know some people don't like change, but I welcome it and appreciate the investment made for the new forum.

Great jobs to those involved! :youguysrock:

It should be fixed. Can you mark all forms read when you're done reading? It won't retroactively fix things but from now on it should show only new unread posts.

So whats the secret Rick??

If I knew how to post screet shots, I would. My way is kind of clunky, but it works.

BEFORE you reply to a thread, scroll all the way down to the bottom of a page. On the left side, there is a menu entitled "Posting Rules". After the "You May...." section, there is a section with highlighted links. The second or third one down is "Smilies". I say second or third because, sometimes, it is the second or third item listed in that box. Anyway, if you click Smilies, another tab opens up showing all of the smilies. On the left side, under "what to type", copy the entire script, such as " : flag : ", then go back to your original tab, click reply, and add that script to your reply where ever you want it.

As of now, no Smilies Box opens for me no matter what I click to reply to a thread.

Like I said, my way is clunky, but works.

Go to user cp, then scroll down and click "edit options". There is a section on pm's, make sure pm's are enabled and make sure to check the box to save sent pm's in a sent folder, otherwise you will not see them.
