I've got a 1970 Nova and I've never seen a cowl tag with 4 digits or letters across the build code area. Mine says 04B0. I know on my 69 it says 05C, for 3rd week of May. The 04B0 should be 2nd week of April, but I'm not sure what the last 0 stands for. Anyone out there know what the last 0 stands for in this build code? Thanks

IMO - it's an extra digit added by mistake.

1969 and newer date codes are 3 digits: first two for the month (01-12) and third for the week (1-5)

I've looked at hundreds (if not a few thousand!) Nova Trim Tags, can't say that I've seen that before....

Heres a snapshot of that tag.

I had a Camaro with NBR instead of NOR on the cowl tag.... found out later it is a known error. So anything is possible.

I agree with Lee Stewart in that it appears to be an error. This is a good question for Greg Roberts...

It's fairly prevalent in the Pontiac community; Usually it will be the build code with a number following (ie "09A 1") but I have seen alpha characters as well.

We don't know what it means, either, but suspect it is some sort of sub coding that indicates shift or further detail regarding body build timing/breakpoint.

That sounds logical Keith, I'll have to look for it now!!
