Restored all the factory brackets etc... from the orig 396 but had to replace the brake booster due to clearance issues trying to keep a orig look

Replaced orig numbers 400 trans with a mild built one and a custom billet convertor along with a new driveshaft. The factory 12 bolt had a eaton posi with 2.73 gears so I installed a Yukon posi with a 3.55 gear set.

Nicely done.... elaborate more on the valve covers and what appear to be riser's? ....thus the clearance issues with a stock booster.

The 074 heads are ported from earlier in life race days, and I added comp roller rockers and a stud girdle to keep the valvetrain from moving around and possibly breaking a rocker stand.with the added height the valve covers would not clear so I was forced to add a valve cover spacer. Now it hit the brake booster so I had to install a smaller diameter booster, problem solved!

That was one plain jane convertible! Not even a radio! Neat the sheet was found in an SS coupe. How close was it to your car? I checked my database and didn't have that car entered.

----Red Alert had a build sheet in the drivers bucket 5 numbers later than its serial number. It was for a regular Chevelle convert w/350/black buckets and AC if I remember correctly. We took a wild stab and figured that Red Alerts bucket seat was some how either damaged or made incorrectly and was put off to the side and then they took the next black bucket bucket seat that came down the line 5 cars later. Is that a plausible explanation???........Bill S

Bill, I think the more plausible answer to that is something like this. Unlike today when virtually every component is assigned to a specific car, back then I believe many parts such as interiors where put into and pulled from a "bank" when the part was called upon. There may have been several sets of black bucket seats in the bank when it came time to pull the seats for Red Alert and therefore got a buildsheet for a different car wrapped inside. I have actually found sheets from other cars and with very close VIN's to the cars I was working on, on several occasions so likely this is more often then not what may have happened.

It appears to be within 40 cars of mine, same color interior combo

It is extremely common to find sheets from other cars in the seats, however the trim code will always be the same. The sheet was used to schedule a specific seat cover to be wrapped on a seat frame, and once that task was complete, that piece of paper became obsolete. In many cases the sheet is completely hidden once the seat is complete. I have found up to four sheets in one car, one for each section of front and rear seat. Sometimes all are a match, sometimes only one is a match, and sometimes none are a match!

My maroon chevy II had a sheet in the passenger seat 10 numbers before mine same color interior. My fawn car had a butternut yellow sheet in it same black gut car.
