My buddy was at a shop in Mass today when this elderly gentleman came in with this car. He bought it brand new. He is to old to drive it and wants to get it ready to sell. Original paint but faded. WOW.

What a sweet car !!

I had a 68 hardtop a few years ago. I am an avid chevy guy, but gotta give it to Ford and Shelby on these cars. All the fiberglass, factory roll bar, traction bars, even koni chocks !! along with all the other features.
Sounds like someone is gonna get a great car !! How many original owner, original paint cars are left?? And convert too !! They don't get much better than this !!

Some trivia:

The KR is the most popular CJ for 1968.

Also, previously published production numbers for the ragtop (318) were updated around 10-15 years ago per Kevin Marti – I believe the number is actually 200 more than that.

For Mustang GTs? I think it was something like 34 ragtops!

For the 1968 428 CJ Mustang GT according to Kevin Marti:

1044 Sportsroofs
221 Coupes
34 Convertibles

Lee, I'm guessing the "135" cars (which were not GTs) are included with your fastback production.

This is a pretty good site for CJ info, etc.:

Don't quote me, but I don't think fastbacks were called "SportsRoof" till 1969.

Hopefully they have enough sense not to repaint it or "freshen it up".. Another original car that deserves a deep clean and I wouldn't mind doing it..
