I recently purchased this Daytona Yellow 1969 Chevelle SS in Pelzer, SC. This Chevelle SS has been off the road since 1983. It wears most of its original factory Daytona Yellow paint. The car originally had a black vinyl roof and black D96 side stripe, but those were removed by a previous owner that planned on restoring the car.

I do not have a build-sheet or protecto-plate for the car, but based on the Daytona Yellow color, this Chevelle is a real SS.

As evidenced by the single 3/8” fuel line, the original factory 6k redline in the tach, and the preserved 375 HP emissions decal on the rad top-plate, this Chevelle was originally equipped with the L78 (or possibly the L89) motor from the factory. This Chevelle was also equipped with a bench seat interior, 4-speed, 3.31 posi rear, Power Disc Brakes, Tilt Steering, AM radio and of course Tach & Gages, black vinyl top and D96 side-stripe.

At some point, someone removed the windshield, so you can see what happened to the dash and floors. The Chevelle has been transported to Illinois, and Dan Vasic has given the car a detailed initial examination.
* The Chevelle still wears its original factory Daytona Yellow paint everywhere except on both quarters which have been repaired and painted (a long time ago judging by the patina).
* Fortunately, the frame appears to be in great shape. The bottom of the Chevelle is full of dried red clay, which apparently saved the frame from rusting away.
Dan has indicated that he will speak with any serious buyers and offer his observations.

This Chevelle clearly deserves a proper restoration, which is beyond the scope of what I had planned.

I have purchased a running original L78 motor with a D 8 9 casting date, which is perfect for this Chevelle's 04D build date. It only requires some cleaning and detailing. I have a great video of the running motor, but I couldn't figure out how to post it?

I am offering this rare and unique Chevelle at my cost as follows:

I have approximately $8,000 in to the Chevelle and I am looking to get that same amount out of the car. That includes a full floor section and one-piece trunk floor.

I have approximately $5,000 in to the L78 396 Motor, and I will offer the motor to the buyer of the Chevelle at that same amount.... but I am prepared to keep the motor if someone only wants the car.

I have the 1969 L78 Engine in my possession. Here is a short video.....as the engine was in this 1967 Chevelle.

I have updated the Ad with a few better photos and description.

I have a little more than $8,000 into the Chevelle and parts, and I am looking to get that same $8,000 out of it. That includes a new floor section, 4-speed tunnel, one-piece trunk pan, extra set of original black door panels with original SS 396 emblems, extra back seat core, etc.

I have approximately $5,000 into the L78 396 Motor, and I will offer the motor to the buyer of the Chevelle for that same $5,000.... but I am prepared to keep the motor if someone only wants the car.

I think That's a decent price for a Daytona Yellow Chevelle SS L78 4-speed project, and a good deal for a correct dated and running L78 motor. If you have other ideas, offers, trades, etc., please shoot me a PM.

I really didn't think I'd have difficulty selling a Daytona Yellow L78 4-speed Chevelle SS for $8,000... but I may consider a reasonable offer. Perhaps a partial trade for... well, you guys know what I like!
