How and the heck do you get the seat back off!! I removed the 3 Phillips that hold the bottom and the darn plastic piece around the seat back button won't come off! I see some clips put as I pry it feels like it's going to break!!
Any suggestions please!!

You have to remove the one center & two bottom corner screws, then push up & off as it hooks on top.
Here's a tutorial vid showing tjust he opposite @ the 4:52 mark.

Clearly I'm missing something. So I take the 3 Phillips from the bottom but I can't get to the 2 screws behind plastic back seat button that's clipped in. I'm using trim tools to push on clips and pry and it won't release. Does the long strap that locks the seat back need to have those bolts removed?
Btw I'm in search of a build sheet... any clues where it might be? Did all 69 novas get one?

You need to remove that plastic chrome lock button first.
It has spring clips on the side that hold it very securely,so it can be a challenge to remove w/o destroying.
They usually break in pieces if old & brittle and guys buy new shiny ones anyway.
I used a homemade tool out of a hacksaw blade ground down and wrapped with cloth tape to better grip it with. You need a tool that flexes as opposed to too rigid.
You have to "walk" the chrome button out,one side a little, then the other side a little, then once out,it gives you access to remove the 2 bolts hiding behind it holding the seat back on right there.

The Fisher Body "build sheet" is typically found in the rear seatback...most often on the passenger side. I have found them in other spots like the seat bottom [both front and rear].
On rare occasions paperwork can be found up under the dashboard...stuffed behind the radio/glove box area...on some Novas, I have found trim cards under the carpeting.

In all cases, use caution as the paperwork may be brittle...take your time removing it, especially if it is attached to the springs of the seats.

Good luck..wilma

Thx Tom
Is it possible that some did not get any paperwork stuffed in them?

One other question could it be under burlap ?

Unlikely it will be under burlap...the seat components were staged for the assembly line...workers referenced the Fisher Body sheets and pulled the correct color/trim level items. Sometimes you will find multiple sheets in the same car...sometimes the document will be for another car. Since std. black interiors were so common, you often see this with these components.

Many times the paperwork was simply discarded...back then those boys never thought we would be looking for these documents.

The body sequence number on the Fisher Body sheet should match the cowl tag.
