need a little help/suggestions. I have the factory Hurst shifter but
used reproduction big block mount and linkage. It seems like
the shifter is off center in the console towards the passenger side.
Also, the shifter seems like the throws are a lot longer than I
remember they should be. What is the best way to get the stock feel back?

Shifter location - Bob , could use a little more information. Can we assume that you are using the big block engine frame stands and cross member? Pictures are probably going to be necessary.

Long throws when shifting- most likely excessive play in the bushings where the rods connect to the shifter or at the lever on the trans. I know these answers are fundamental, but there that is where I would start. It should be some simple overlooked item. Look around all used components looking for evidence of it being tweaked, welded or ? A "trick" used to shorten the throw is to redrill holes above existing holes on the shift arms or levers

it is the location in the console....the shifter handle seems skewed to the passenger side
of the hole on the console and almost hits the console opening when shifting from 3-4. The console has never been out of the car so it has to be the shifter mounting on the transmission.....I have the factory big block engine mounts and transmission mount.

do you have the spacer shown in the lower left of the attached picture? this moves the shifter to the left about 1/4".

If you have a factory shifter, as you stated, and reproduction linkage and shifter mount? You would not have anything in that picture shown.

the spacer is available separately. you will have to get longer thru-bolts for the shifter.

part number 1954319 or 1955319.
