Matching numbers driveline with 68K miles, original glass (including windshield), T3 headlights, shocks, and exhaust–Cortez silver with dark green interior. Ordered by a serviceman in April of 1969 at Frank Chevrolet in Portland, OR, built in October and in December, exported to Germany where he was stationed. The car came back to California and was sold in May of 1974 with 52K miles. The second CA owner kept it garaged until 2000 and only put 7K miles on it. From that point on it was always in collector car care.
Added 7/23 after just recently getting in touch with the second owner—
The car was refreshened in 1975 by the second owner. It was repainted in the original Cortez silver acrylic lacquer purchased from Chevrolet and hand-rubbed. The door jams and area around the hideaway headlights are original paint yet. The seat covers and carpet were also replaced due to an acid spill by the dealership while replacing the battery.
It’s well documented with a three-inch binder of factory/dealership docs, owner registrations, titles and maintenance history. All factory original parts on the car except for a new top installed in 2000. Also at that time the water pump, fan clutch and rear transmission mount were also replaced. Brakes were also serviced and the flywheel resurfaced. When I purchased in 2014, all original engine components were rebuilt including the fuel pump, carburetor, alternator and starter. The radiator was re-cored using the original channels and tanks. New vintage A/C plugs, distributor cap and reproduction plug wires, coil, all hoses and belts were installed along with a one-wire electronic ignition. New mufflers were installed as well as Goodyear Speedway redline bias-ply tires including the spare. Everything works except the windshield washer. I had a set of headrests done and packaged up the originals as they were brittle and one was cracked. The clock works part of the time, enough to get through judging. The a/c dryer was replaced and still uses R12–blows 40 degrees.
Driving the car takes you back in time. It rides tight and drives straight. It’s a very enjoyable car with bullet-proof docs and history. Comes with a matching factory hardtop. NCRS Top Flight (local chapter 2015 and regional 2016). It wouldn't take much to make it ready for nationals. Call Bill at 612-875-3825 with any questions. SOLD—Thanks for the ad, Yenko.net!
