It's a 1970 Buick GS455 Stage 1 Prototype/Show Car.

It will be part of the Mecum Dallas Sept. auction. This is the 5th time this car has been through a Mecum auction. For the most part, it has sold each time:

Chicago 2104: $82,500

Kissimmee 2013: $75,000

St Charles 2011: $72,500

Indy 2011: $125,000 High Bid

Is the buying and selling of this car like some stocks? Buy, Sell - make some money then buy and sell it again and make some more money?

Or it is a reserved auction and the car doesn't make the mark. The seller brings it back to another auction maybe with better attendance, better time slot, premiere event, etc...

Maybe Bruce will buy it to go with the red drop top -- that will be it ... won't be on the market for awhile. Holly driving one and Bruce with the Mrs in the other?? Craig :dunno:

Does anyone have the history on this car? I've seen it at several of the auctions before and like it but have never seen an owner near it.

John Chamberlin owned it for awhile and I believe was the seller when it first sold @ Mecum. No idea after that!

Not sure if this is the case here but Dana will often run his own cars through the auctions either to spark interest or in hopes of getting a fish (whale) on the hook. The last Hemi Cuda is one of his that comes to mind.

If I recall correctly this car and the prototype GSX were built together and used together in '70 car shows. I'd like to own either car but this one has been through so many auctions that you wonder what is wrong with it.

The mecum auctions seemed to sound like it wasn't the original block and I think I saw it on eBay a few years ago and the guy said it was the original block. Seemed to be some confusion

The current owner of this Prototype/Show Car GS is Matt Wagoner
