It's been about a week since I was on board here.
Last thus. Aug. 10 I experienced what I now know
was a heart attack.
Heavy chest pains but could slow down the pain and
continue on.
Finally on Sun.the afternoon of the13th, knowing I
needed to do something, I went to the St.Mary's hospital and of course
they didn't have a heart lab. So they put me in an ambulance and sent me to
there sister hospital in Madison Wi. Funny thing, ambulance wouldn't do 30 miles
an hour so had to change it out for another.
Anyway long story short
, that Monday they tried to do an angioplasty with no success, so tues.
I received a triple By-Pass and here it is Saturday and home already.
I cannot say enough praise for ST.Mary's hospital of Madison Wi.
And there team.
It's just me but you never know when this can strike any of you.
Take care and thanks for listening
Joe Smith

Glad you are doing okay. The clarity of hindsight is not something every person who suffers a heart attack can enjoy. Take care and get better.

Thanks to all, your thoughts are with me and my wife all the time.
I only bring this up for you guys.
2 weeks ago I was at one of my local swapmeets lifting 12 rearend's ,
4 speeds etc.
Never felt a thing!!
A week later begging for a breathe of air. WOW!
It was an education for me.
This might have been caught.
This being a triple or a quad By-Pass, they didn't happen all at once.
Who knows when this started.
Those "every couple year check-ups with a chest X-ray" are a must.
Those Dr.s Rock at what they and I will be indebted for the rest of my life.
Thanks Again
Joe

Dan guess I'm going to leave Corvette Carlisle to
you.
You know me well enough to know its bugging me not to go.
Could of been the $1000 Rooms for the week
that started all this. LOL!
I'LL be back soon

Glad to hear you're on the mend and paid attention to the warning signs Joe. I check my blood sugars, blood pressure , both cholesterol levels, and proteins every 3 months and just had my PSA and Colon screening done. Next up is a full physical and that's followed with a stress test & x-ray. Gotta check this stuff as we age.

Get well soon and thanks for chiming in. :burnout:

My wife and I just did all of that about a month ago. I figured we'd better, now that Holly is doing well :)

Theres a 3rd cholesterol that is the hereditary part that got me. Its lp small a is what they call it. My grandfather had a heart attack at 52 and we assume he had it. My mom has it and now i have it. It is not part of a routine cholesterol check. The first time I had one done the hospital, which is a big heart hospital, had trouble figuring out where to send it. If there's been heart attacks at somewhat early ages in your family it's good to have someone look into that. There's not much they can do except try and keep your LDL cholesterol low. Mine is between 15 and 20 now but was never over 30 when I had the heart attack. This small a lipoprotein seems to be sticky and attaches itself to your LDL and then you have problems.
