Ah, the internet.

This gorgeous 396/375 Super Sport caught my eye and I googled the VIN just for the heck of it. Apparently it was a $7500 LM1 project back in 2010.

Bugs me how the current seller calls it a "REAL SS 396 Camaro." I guess buyer beware, as usual.

Great catch. It's scummy people and dealers like this that completely ruin the hobby. Somebody's gonna get burned...

Not that it will do any good but I reported the listing. They need to drop the word REAL.

No one seems to care.

A friend was interested in this. Took a few minutes to learn its history-a column-auto Malibu. The bud notified the dealer months ago; still out there.

... I am surprised that "Classic Cars of Sarasota" would risk their reputation marketing this Hugger Orange Camaro as a "prototype" without at least having someone that is an expert in documenting these cars look this car over instead of just going by the info the owner has supplied.

...This really hurts their reputation.

...

John you did see who they are claiming has verified that hugger car right? ... They're putting a lot of weight on that name drop

Where is this Video presentation of that HO Camaro?
The sellers ad references it 3 separate times, yet no link to it.

Mr.70 It's just to the right of the description .. I can't listen to it because my work computer has no sound but I watched a minute or two of it

Thanks Craig, but it's still not showing a Vid link at all in the ebay ad for me.
Must be a computer glitch?

.... Try the video in this link on their website....

https://www.cleanclassiccars.com/1969-chevrolet-camaro-copo-yenko-c-1931.htm

... I would definitely have a notable Camaro specialist inspect this car since they are going on just what info the owner of the car has given them.
... For a very small amount of money they could have a professional inspection done on this car.

.... Are those "prototype" cowl tag rivets too ?

Good catch Tony and another example of the brazen balls some people have.
Lots of past posts here and elsewhere about that prototype clone smoke and mirrors car, VIN 124379N549828
Reading the descriptions, does anyone else hear the voice of John Lovitz as the liar on Saturday Night Live?
:beers:

The initial post, regarding the yellow car, has this car as an 11,--- mile car. It has lost 100,000 miles since being an LM1. The LM1 ad states 111,--- miles.

Here is a rebodied canadian copo I went to look at several months ago. Seller was made aware that it was a rebody and that the date on the underdash sheetmetal was around 6 months off from the build date with the cowl vin being ground and non legible. It was on the known list of being rebodied,he said he wasnt aware of it . Still for sale as a real car with no mention to that information 5 months later . I give everyone the benefit of the doubt and will asume he didnt know it was a rebody or that the owner didnt tell him ,but after he was told it was a rebody, that benefit went out the window.

Good info Chuck and whether the seller knew beforehand or not, their actions now that they are aware of the truth makes them party to the fraud of VIN 124379N635322.

----I believe I know that car. Was initially restored on Cape Cod a long time ago and the owner was known to re-body stuff. I'm pretty sure the car that got the re-body was a COPO as it was out of Toronto just as the add says. There were two Monaco Orange Chevelle COPOS that he did the same thing to, both also out of Ontario. One of them ended up in the greater Chicago area. Don't know about the other. The re-bodier really didn't think there was anything wrong with his antics......Bill S
