I guess my old thread got deleted, so here's Part #2
Our kitchen remodel isn't quite finished yet, as I left the cabinets, flooring, counter tops, etc., to the pros,
but this is my contribution to the design.
I picked up a big slab of live-edge South American Parota to put in place of the old nasty tiled
bar top. I noticed it a few months ago in an exotic wood joint up the street and had to have
it for the remodel. After a little cutting, sanding, sculpting and routing, it seems to work. The
only casualty is a nasty scar on my left palm from when my router got airborne and came after
me. Yeah, that was a fun day.

There was a large crack here, along with some other blemishes, when I bought the slab. An
epoxy repair didn't turn out as I'd hoped, so I ended up routing out the crack turning it into
a reservoir. The wife filled it with some beach junk and I had a piece of glass cut to protect
everything.

The pendant lights over the bar top needed a little more pizazz, so I used some left over Parota
to make some simulated live-edge accents for the bases.

A new bar top meant I needed new coasters. I couldn't find any
I liked, so I chopped up a piece of 4x4 I've been tripping over in
the shop. Mother Nature makes the best stuff.

Not sure what kind of wood. They're taken from a regular old 4x4 I got from Home Depot.

Nice! Now you need to add a tap and handle for the keg that you'll build into the cupboards, then invite everybody over!! :beers:

I built and installed the sliding door track over a year ago. I thought it was about time I got off my butt and built a frickin' door to go with it.

I've had a large piece of Mexican Cocobolo hanging in our foyer for a while because I loved the natural color and grain pattern. After starting a bathroom renovation, I decided to cut it up and repurpose it into two live-edge mirrors over each sink.

Here's what happens when I get too hopped up on those energy drinks. I couldn't sit still any longer, so I spent a couple hours making a decorative backer for some pictures hanging in the foyer. After that, I cleaned the house from top to bottom.

Made this rustic stool to seat a chest gifted to me by good ol' mom. Always liked the chest, but hated that it sat on the floor all the time.

Even though it's hanging in my house, this one isn't for my home. It's a Christmas present I made for good ol' mom. Hope to get it shipped to her this week.

Just got done with a redesign on a bamboo wall I built in front of our house years ago. The bamboo weathered pretty quickly and was going to be an s.o.b. to maintenance, so it had to go.
BEFORE: Nope, not happenin' anymore.
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4893/46934672641_ac23688c91_b.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/2evssZP)
AFTER: We still wanted to keep the tropical vibe, but also wanted the wall to be more "active", so I built a light box, which illuminates a pineapple silhouette with an orange flickering flame effect at night, along with two solar-powered torches.
A water feature was also added, which has water flowing from 3 large bamboo pipes (heavely weather treated) and falling into a white clam shell. White gravel and red lava rock make the base, along with some greenery and blooms for a little color

Beeeeeeaaautiful work, Chick!! Love the handiwork! Is the floor a stamped concrete pattern or is it indivudual stone? Nice job on all of it!
Cheers

Thank you for the appreciation. The wife loves it too, so I guess that means I can be okay with it lol.
The individual pavers are all identically shaped. Some of them are cast to appear to be 2 or 3 pieces. We had pros lay the hardscape as I'm not ambitious enough to do jobs like that.

Nice work. I am in the process of drywalling a stair way and need to work on a bathroom but not near as exciting as what you have going on
