Have these listed on ebay:

I believe they fit small blocks, 65 - 68 with 8 inch balancer, which would be L-79 or in 67 and 68 L48 in the Camaro.
One fellow has informed me that the 69 parts book lists the cradle (3941114) as being for 69 Camaro small block. I compared this cradle to my 69 Z power steering cradle, and they are not alike, nor interchangeable.
They do not match up with the numbers in the 68 Chevelle AIM for L79 brackets. Can anyone shed light on this?
The brackets on my 68 El Camino are completely different, but it came with a 307, so had a seven inch balancer. I had to modify it to fit with an 8 inch damper.
Thanks for any help.
Have confirmed that the lower bracket (cradle) is not for 69 with possible exception of Corvette or other vehicle that still used the short water pump.
Any chance any one on here has a 65 through 68 car (any model) with an L-79 and Power Steering? Would like pics of the brackets.
Thanks in advance.
Lynn

Lynn,
Pix of a lower bracket for '67 Chevelle L79 and upper adjusting bracket installed. - Bill
Bill:
I appreciate the pics. However, I think that is a modified bracket set that originally came on a low horse small block with the 7 inch balancer. It looks almost exactly like the set up on my 68 El Camino, which was originally a 307 car. When I installed the 350, I had to modify the lower bracket (cradle) similar to how yours is modified. That front hole on the cradle used to be a complete circle. It has been cut back to clear an 8 inch balancer.
I think very few L79's had power steering from the factory, and that is why I can't find any pics of the correct set up installed.

Lynn, the NOS lower bracket that I posted is listed in the parts book revised Aug. 1, 1967, group 6.606. It has not been modified after the fact.
Tomorrow I will get a pic from one of my '67 L79 cars using the exact same bracket and post it.
The upper bracket that I posted is common to all small block Chevelles. - Bill
That is amazing. Apparently GM made changes to that bracket so it would fit either 7 or 8 inch balancer. I am guessing the ones I have are for pre Aug 67 cars. Or, maybe as modified, it got a different part number, but they kept making the other one for 7 inch balancers. Reason I mention that, is that my 68 El Camino (Dec. 67 build) had a different version that looks very similar. Did not have the gusset between the two vertical sides. I added one when I modified it. I just didn't cut off as much of the part that interfered with the 8 inch balancer.
Thanks for your help. I will post pics of the one on my El Camino.

Lynn, I agree with you on the over-the-counter having all inclusive part #. Here are pix of L79 and L30 (275 horse) brackets installed ('67 Chevelles).
I believe these brackets can still be found NOS? - Bill
Very good to know. Apparently the brackets I have (3988971 & 3941114) pre date your brackets. The brackets on my El Camino (Dec. 67 for 68 model year) looked similar, but interfered with an 8 inch damper before I modded. the lower.
Of topic I know, but WHY IN THE WORLD, when GM could have used the same brackets for two applications, did they use two?????? Had to increase production costs. Just like first gen camaros with different heater cores for big block / small block. How stupid. Once they decided to install big blocks, they could have easily used the "big block" designed heater core in both applications, and not had to worry about different part numbers, not only for the heater core, but for the cover. Assinine. On top of everything else, the big block heater core is easier to swap out. No logical reason whatsoever.
Just to confirm; that is an 8 inch balancer, correct?
Thanks guys for the input. Trying to solve the mystery.
Anyone out there have a 65 66 L-79 car with PS? Guessing they are not very commong.
Oklahoma Natural Gas actually ordered something like 17 Nova Station wagons in 66 or 67 WITH THE L79, believe it or not. I am sure it was the result of some smart a$$ in the purchasing dept. Have no idea if they had PS, but believe all were ordered identically. So, if one did, all did. Be nice to find someone that owns one of those today. I believe a few exist.

Yes, L79 with 8" balancer.
I didn't find your part #s in my '67 book, but the 3858872 is listed only for small block Chevelle, not Chevy II or Camaro.
