Eaton 4 series carrier EDB 30174

Hey all
I bought a EDB 30174 carrier for $200. Its in beautiful shape from what I can see.
It has NDH bearings still on it.
There is also pink, yellow and blue paint marks on it.
The springs are green.

Did the factory put these colored marks on it? For what purpose?

I have a set of GM 4.30 gears im going to try.

How do you know the 2nd “A” = 1970?
