Lynn, Holly and I decided to do a "road trip" to Chicago this year for MCACN-as Holly had only seen the western and midwest states by air. We had a great time driving and seeing the sites, too. We put over 4000 miles on the KIA Soul-and when we were only 2 hours into our trip, we HIT a huge raccoon which damaged the front of the Kia. Racers tape to the rescue, until we could get to Chicago and utilize the MCACN "raccoon repair kit" (zip ties, etc) :)
We also narrowly escaped being involved in a collision in Texas on the way back-on highway 40 a young lady driving in front of us fell asleep while driving. I witnessed the whole accident as she drifted into the median at 90mph. then over corrected to get back on the road lost control and flipped the car three times in the air and landed on its side.
I thought for sure as I approached the car that she wasn't alive. She climbed out of the drivers window and four dogs started to run, so we gathered up all the dogs except for one which ran across the highway...nowhere to be found. Thank God for wrap around air bags...the lady and the dogs will be alright.
We also visited the Oklahoma Memorial on the way back home. It was a very humbling experience...

Bruce, thank you very much for taking so many beautiful pictures and taking the time to share them with us all. I have wanted to go to that show for years but, haven't made it there yet.
Whenever my wife and I go to a car show we always play the "if you had to pick one car as your favorite, which would it be?". Thank God we haven't had to try and play that game with this show.

I didn't understand the placement of these two Vettes. The green '67 car was not an L88, but it was with the L88s. It's an L71 435 horse car, the owner's poster said so - as did the three obvious 2 bbl Holleys on the car. Unless, it was mis-identified as an L71 at some point in its life, restored as an L71 and later found to be an L88? I dunno
The white '65 was supposedly Zora's development mule - the first car to have an L88 installed and tested , the first car to have an M22 tested in it. Yet, it was kind of up "out of the way" , away from the L88 display. I guess because it wasn't a '67...A very important car nonetheless.

and more of the cars in the show
Thanks Bruce for taking all the pictures. My Black LS-6 was back in the corner by the barn finds for it's first showing after 14 years of work. You even captured me with both my Brother in laws talking on Sunday morning! Thanks again. Being in the back It really didn't get all "The Love" as the cars in the front, but it did score 978 out of 1000 points in it's first showing for a Gold Certificate.

THANK YOU BRUCE! Lots of work getting photos and posting them for the rest of us. Too many amazing cars all in one place. Love the '67 Camaros, the F.I. '58 Delray (never seen one of those) and the '64 409 wagon. Oh, and the '67 L78 Elco. And, and, and...

Great pics Bruce. Just catching up on the 69 Yenko picutres for the registry. I'm assuming that 9n614906 is painted the correct fathom green (appears burnished brown in the photo)? Also the rally green Yenko - I believe that it's 9n615396?

Wow... great coverage Bruce. The cars are great... the people are what make the cars great in my opinion! It was nice to finally meet you and your family. Nicole and I had a great time.

Great pictures!!!
But this one kept coming back to me....
I know I've seen it before and it took some digging.
Bingo.. it was 1999 and I was having a boat painted in Washington Twp, MI and while there looking at the paint work we walked over to another barn and that is where I spotted this 1969 SS396 Camaro and took this picture, before I could even get the words out of my mouth I heard the dreaded "It's not for sale".... Yep, it still looks the same, no headlights and no windshield.

Recognized 2 more blasts from the past....first up is my high school and friend to this day, Paul V's 1967 SS Impala, I was with him when he bought this car in 1986 and it has been raced since that day in 1986, many street races and late night engine and trans swaps that could fill a book..and it is still kicking ass in the Pure Stock drags to this day.
Next up..this 1970 R/T Hemi Challenger, In 1985 I drove my 1970 440 6-Pak GTX to Detroit to look at some Mopar parts, when I was leaving and about to get in my car this guy in a white Dodge Maxi van loaded with kids stops and asks me about my GTX, we BS a little and he tells me about his Hemi Challenger and to stop by as he lives down the street...I'm thinking OK..NOT. Well I drive down the street and get to the corner of Outer Drive I look to the left and there he is with the garage open and I see the black Challenger inside, so I stop to check it out.
Turns out he is a Detroit Police motorcade officer named Godfrey, and bought the Hemi Challenger new, it only had 12K miles on it at the time and I could of bought it for $10K that day... which was out of the question for me at that time.
I recognized the car from the Gator Grain top and even though I can't quite make out what it says on the fender decals, I bet they say "AFRO" he saw me looking at the decals and replied "yeah, we were into that back then"
Great guy and a great car, wish I would of had $10K in my pocket that day..

And as a post script to the trip...we took the Kia to Shaun's (Galveston on this site) and he performed the official raccoon repair on the Kia after we got the check from State Farm...including replacing all of the broken pieces, painting the bumper cover, the hood and blending the front fenders. His paintwork on the hood was better than the factory coverage, which was mottled.
We dropped it off on Saturday and he was done on Wednesday! We picked it up yesterday morning :cool2:
We are blessed to have great friends :youguysrock:
Thank you, Shaun! Now, we are ready for MCACN 2018!
