Neat car, sounds like the motor and trans have been replaced, but the rear is original.

Very nice car forest green and standard saddle interior. 07C is a late build. To bad a lot of the big money original parts are missing to restore concourse.

Seller is firm at 25k. I offered him 21k when it was up the first time a few weeks ago. Nice cool looking car that has L78 providence. Unfortunately, the L78's are not valued like the Z28's are.

i think it would look better without the hood scoop.

Thirty years ago I bought an L78 engine out of a 70 Camaro from a guy in the same town as the seller. It has its factory CKO stamp. Probably too early for this car since it has a cast date of 2/70 and a stamp date of 4/70.

I wouldn't count your engine out. I have a 03C 70 L78 with a Sept 69 cast date.

It would be awesome if you had this car’s original engine. Ask the seller for the last 3 numbers of the vin.

I've tried 100 times to read the VIN with no success to be certain of the numbers. It's just too rough down at the flange. If I was certain I had the right numbers I'd reach out to the seller. But without knowing 100% I'm too hesitant to get anyone's hopes up.

Take some pictures of the rough cast area and email them to me?
[email protected] sometimes blowing them up on a computer screen it helps. It's going to start with a 10N if it's a Norwood Ohio L78 motor. Or 10L for A LA. Van Nuys L78 motor.

Yep,I've seen a few of those too.
When they abruptly cancelled putting that L-78 engine into the early 1970 Chevelles,(due to the the LS-6 debuting),they probably banked a fair amount of those early 854 4-bolt main blocks,so turned to the new Camaro,(and Nova), to eat up the remaining.

The engine is in my Chevelle. I have it stored for the winter. If I recall correctly it is a Norwood engine as I remember making out the N. But believe it or not I still have the handwritten receipt. Bought it from a Mr Jacobs on May 14, 1983 for $800.00. If I can get to the car I'll give the VIN another try.

If the seller knows the former owners of the eBay L78. Maybe Mr Jacobs could of been a past owner or know of the owner. Maybe if you ever get the vin pictures on your block some day please post them up here or the orphaned section of Nasty28.com. there are a few owners all over the country looking for they're missing motors. Also the cast date does put it as a late build for a 70 camaro L78.

Ron, How much value should I put on my Nov69 cast/assembled CKO long block (core/needs rebuild)
with VIN stamped on Bellhousing Flange (but Not Camaro....probably NOVA??)
Still a good Camaro eng replacement as no vin on the deck

Chuck depends on the buyer. If it's a nova L78 you may get $2500 or more being from a nova. A camaro owner maybe less since it is from a nova.just my opinion here only.
I know a couple L-78 Chevelle owners who might be interested in that block Chuck S.

I have a feeling that’s the engine for the car. Reminds me of the 67 z motor that was in the t-bucket.

I have a strange feeling to it is the motor too. Last time I had one of those feelings is with the green L78 Chuck posted pictures of. Mike Steitz L78. I am friends with Mike. He runs the 70 L78 registry on Nasty28.com. His car and my L78 were both from the boulder Colorado area. It turned out that Both our cars were both sold at Russ Lyons Chevrolet in Boulder. Mine probably 1st being a 03C car and his Later 05C car.

If you get a chance, try using some old school chalk on the rough casting area, carefully wipe off the excess chalk, then take a pic with ambient light and no flash, and the same, with the flash. Trick JM taught me. Works in a lot of cases where you can get most if not all of the vin off the rough casting.

I had to take several photos with my iPhone on HDR from different angles and was finally able to see all of the numbers. No one photo is the best of all the numbers. Try with flash on and flash off. If you just look at the area with the naked eye you would swear there isn't anything.
