Found a 71 Ranchero GT (429 Cobra Jet, Automatic). Obviously it has been garage kept it whole life. Climbed underneath it and the floors are perfect, same thing with the inner panels behind rear wheels, bed, cab, fenders, hood and etc. Hasn’t run since 1996, but drove into the garage at that time by original owner. Have ordered a deluxe Marti Report on it. Inside of bed painted, and various other areas cut in. All original everything. Currently in primer, but appears very close to being ready for paint. Non ram air car, C code. Also an A/C car. Dash, seat cover need replacing. All trim pieces seem to be there. Just curious on value, as is and restored.

Not sure on value, but we need pics man! :)

Quick ebay search does not show any sold recently, but non 429 cars sold for low 20's restored. 1970 thru 72.

On all fords with the 429, the Torino was closest and other than a few "King Cobra" cars, looks like they bring in the 30's to low 50's fully restored and type of car (ie Mustang brings more than the others)

So, not sure on value, but if they are like the Elky's, they don't seem to be in super high demand.

Searching ebay on El Camino's 70's with the LS5, shows 20's to 40's, with 40's being no sale at dealers. Project Elky's in that same category struggled to get into the 10's.

Exception would be the few LS6 El Camino's of course.

Hope that helps.

It seems the more unusual CJ Rancheros are $40-50, but that would be non-GTs and SCJs (friend bought 1 of 2 '71 Squire J-code 4-speed).

Otherwise, I think they don't command the same price as an equivalent Cobra.

I'd have to look at my numbers, but prob 75 built with C-code/auto for '71....okay, looking now and it shows 94 built. Despite the rarity, they do pop up on occasion.

Would love to see the Marti when you get it.

What is the engine code in the VIN? I know there were not Cobra Jet 429 options in 1970 and it was likely the same case in 1971.

C-code 429 CJ and J-code 429 CJ ram air were available in both 1970-71.

The Drag Pack was only available in 1970, which this car is not because it has AC and it's a '71 besides.

Ooops, I meant to say non-CJ 429 options. I believe it was called the Thunder Jet.

Correct –*no N-code in '71.

A TX friend who has a similar car is curious from where in TX the OP is.

I will let y’all know what I find out from the Marti. I don’t know why I didn’t put a rush on it.

Out of curiosity, is this the black 429 Ranchero out of Colorado?

The color combo won't be doing any favors for higher value on this model. Enjoy it and congrats on the purchase!
