Anyone help a brother out? I need a build sheet from > 1966 and < 1975 from zone 15, dealer 488, which will come back as Roger Penske, Emmaus PA.
Apparently in <> 1975ish Penske sold that dealership to Scott Chevrolet and moved, and the dealership changed but the dealer number stayed the same.
My Z, a 70, is original paint in the rear and has the Penske dealer tag, my NCRS came back as 15/488 and multiple web sites show 15/488 as Penske as late as 1972.
In fact, the NCRS OWN dealer code database page has an entry for Penske as 15/488 in 1972 verified with "AAA Window Stickers- Bill Petriko", however, in the next entry shows a 1975 entry as Scott Chevrolet as 15/488 with the note "I was given this information by a gentleman who has an official Chevrolet Philadelphia Zone Dealer Directory, March 1975. I believe this was Roger Penske's Dealership in the early '60's prior to his selling to Scott."
So common sense is if there is a 1972 entry for Penske, that in 1970, it would be Penske. Their own notes in the 1975 entry even state that the dealership was Penske in the early 60's. Paperwork mistake right? Wrong (unless I am missing something here).
Not so much. I emailed their support folks and they say that they used the 1988 data (? Why?) which shows Scott and I would need to provide any official paperwork (such as a buildsheet) proving that Penske was 15/488 in 1970. The NCRS database is not able to be used to verify a dealer code.
Ugggh.
So, anyone have any official paperwork showing Penske as 15/488 preferably 1970-74? I would really appreciate it.
Rich
