i wish it is donated to the state and made into green preservation or a golf course instead of building. my buddy has run the motocross division of the property for 35 years. i wonder how long the rest of the facility survives. the knapp family lives a few streets from me in colts neck.very nice people

According to The Capital Sports Report, the drag racing operations at Raceway Park officially shut its doors as of Tuesday night, January 16th, 2017. The facilities will now reportedly be used as storage for Copart, an online vehicle auction site.
While the facility's website is still displaying ticket prices and a weekend schedule for the 49th annual NHRA Summer Nationals, the NHRA released a statement earlier today confirming this year's event will not take place.
According to a release issued by the track's owners, the compound will still hold its numerous annual swap meets, car shows, motocross racing, kart racing, Clubloose drifting events, concerts festivals, and monster truck shows in 2018. The Old Bridge Township Airport, another piece of the property, will continue to operate normally.

The Napp family, which opened the raceway in 1965 and continues to operate it privately, decided to end drag racing, and convert the grandstand and about half the strip into an outdoor concert venue

This just appeared at another site. Info is different from the supposed "Coparts deal."

Malls are dying so I doubt that would happen.

We used to race there early in the spring as they opened earlier than Lebanon Valley, even won my class once..Super sad to see hunk of history is ending. Surprised that in a population area THAT big, they can't make eno0ugh money to support it. Very sad...I mean I met Linda Vaughn there once!!!!

The decision to close the drag strip without notice is a little puzzling, but I'm sure they have their reasons.
Not my side of the country, but sad to see none the less.

I know the track, was under pressure for along time about the noise issue. Because on sundays, unless it was a special event. You had to have mufflers on your car, to race. The track was there, before the developments. Moved in next to the track. BBBenny

We have roughly 2000 acres and 2 10,000 ft solid concrete, military spec runways doing NOTHING out on the eastern end of Long Island (Calverton), NO residential exposure for miles. There is a group lobbying to open a track there 'Long Island Needs A Drag A Strip". Cross your fingers, but a long shot at best

Another piece of my childhood gone. I still can't drive by exit 70 on the Long Island Expressway without thinking of National Speedway!
