I was there in March of 1980 and took a whole bunch of pictures......aside from mine being in color, they look pretty much identical to these.

That one shot of Pollard Ravenscroft is cool. That's where my brothers 1964 Nova is from. Van Nuys Blvd has changed quite a bit. I didn't move out here 'til the late 80s and missed most of that. Cool stuff! Can't wait to see the rest!

Glad everyone enjoyed them. I will scan and post the rest later.
No Rick, I didn't know any of the people pictured.....I was just a tourist. That trip was the first time in my life I had flown on an airplane and the first time I had been to California. Marilee and I flew out there to visit her brother (who still lives there) and her aunt & uncle. We will be going back there in September for our nephew's wedding, but now we can drive there in a few hours :)
Pretty cool.
Closest thing these days to it is Dreamcruise.

The real "seventieshow". I would like to have the black Vega in the second picture.

It's kind of ironic that when communities & the police started to crack down to put an end to these activities, a TV news crew would be there to interview people and there was ALWAYS that one guy that would say: "My grandparents cruised, my parents cruised, I cruise and my kids are gonna cruise! You can't stop it!". I would've agreed but those days most certainly did come to an end when today's generation of kids are able to stay in contact with each other using cellphones & social media without even leaving their houses!

Great pics. Brings back the way cars looked back in the day. I kept mine stock, so I was kind of in the minority back then.

Cool!
Memorial Drive in Stone Mountain, GA was our version of that. The cops cracked down and killed the cruise around 1980-1981.

Nice find.
I surprised how many trucks were cruising. There were only a few around here and they were all full size, no imports.

Yes a great gallery from McCloskey, he shot those in '72 I think. I posted that gallery here last year in the Lounge. McCloskey was an artist - really captured "life" on the Blvd. rather than just cars. Amazing stuff, good to have it all here in this thread.

Riviera GS! Cool!
Sharp eye on the '65 Riviera being a Gran Sport! I missed that fact and I'm a big fan of those cars. How about the fact that those Centerlines would also be a 5-on-5.00" bolt circle!
