I emailed the seller half-curious whether this one could be a COPO...he had it listed as a Malibu, and it had the 12 bolt and large fuel line so I figured what the heck (it's right in the middle of the COPO VIN range). Turns out it's a black on parchment SS396 judging by the trim tag pic he just posted. Still a desirable car, and still going cheap.

Can you imagine how gorgeous this one would have looked when new??

By the way, I have no idea what's up with the pics he posted - the background looks to be intentionally obscured. Very weird.

That car has been drag raced. Drive shaft loop, coil spring on the right rear shock, switches on the dash... Better check the frame behind the right front lower control arm for a large crack.
