So, my older son turned 16 back in September and has been saving his $$ for about 6 years - race winnings, birthday and Christmas gifts, snow shoveling, lawn cutting, landscaping, etc.... He really wanted a 2010 Camaro 2SS, but the price! The next best was an LS1 Trans Am, and after 18 months of looking and following - it showed up on Thanksgiving morning at a small Dodge dealership in Lewistown, PA! There were no pics because it hadn't been through dealer prep yet, but we went out the next day and I could tell as soon as he saw it - it was a done deal! It was exactly, to the 'T', what he was saving for and they accepted our one and only offer. We went back out the next week to pick it up, a 2001 Trans Am, Ram Air induction, WS6 Performance Package, a/t, black interior, T-tops, Monsoon sound system, etc... Was previously owned by a young woman who stashed it away each Winter, so not a scratch on it after just 61k miles. He was pumped to say the least, and now he plans to race both his Jr Dragster and the T/A at Maple Grove Raceway! Time sure marches on....

What an aweso.e car for a young man's first car. Based on what you have written it is obvious he was taught well on the topics of responsibilty, saving and many other things many young people seem to not understand. Enjoyď

Looks like a killer car. There was a similar one advertised here if my memory is working. How bad was/is the insurance? When I turned 16, my Dad let me put my car on his policy and listed my mother as principal driver.......cool parents.

Great job of passing down the "Car Guy" mentality to the next generation Marlin!

That's a little better than mine. Back in 1989, my first street car was a '70 Nova painted a non-stock dark gold / brown color with a trashed gold interior, and a mighty 230, PG, 2.73 gears. Paid a whole $500 for it, and that was all the money I had at the time.

It eventually became a SS "tribute" with a 350/TH350, Black vinyl bucket seat interior, rallys, etc. Drove it almost 100k miles from 1989-1995 when it got retired from active daily driver status.

That's a nice looking T/A!

Those WS6 TA's are future collectibles. There's a pretty decent 85K black/black WS6 A4 for sale locally for $5,000; it was still for sale last time I looked so if anyone is interested PM and I'll send the link.

Nice! The late 4th gen WS6s are great cars. I had a Sunset Orange Metallic 6 speed that I bought new. Wish I had never sold it. It was such a fun car and rare too!

Very nice way to bond with your son. Bravo, Sir.

BTW, I have a nice, black '01 WS6 6-speed for sale in case anyone else has another child they want to make super happy! :-) It's listed here in the members for sale section.
