I haven't been able to get any bites on the owner of the car yet. Who knows if its still out there.

Wonder if the car already has the "original, numbers matching" engine?

As Matt agreed to, I posted the info on the NCRS Tech Forum where it now resides on the "Orphan Parts" thread.

Good luck to Matt with this gesture!

A friend of mine just bought a "numbers" 435 '67 car. I was going to get the VIN off of it Saturday, but the door was closed and I didn't want to mess with the car. I'll check it later. I'm trying to get him to bring it to SCR21.

This would not be the first time I'm sure......

If you had the car you would HAVE to buy the engine! How much do you think the value of the Vette would go up mated to it's original motor?30-35%?

I found a 427/435hp '69 block and offered it to the original owner. He said, "Can't be mine, my car has the original engine". Never took it any further because he bought the car that way and it would only hurt him. Problem is, it'll hurt the eventual buyer of that same car. Another moral dilemma.
That same car was at MCACN. If that were mine, I'd still purchase the original block but leave the fake in the car.

Matt,

A friend of mine in PA bought a 67 427/435 HP new in 67 and it was stolen shortly afterward- he still after more than 50 years still carries the owners card everyday waiting for it to show up somewhere- when I saw your post I contacted him immediately- unfortunately its not his
his vin if this car turns up somewhere is 194677S109022

Best Wishes - I really hope this engine gets reunited with its body and owner

Of course it's a legit stamping. That's after I cleaned the years of grease and surface rust off the pad.

Real deal in my opinion.

I feel you took my comment as an insult? I've seen many pads / stamps in the 35 years I played with Corvettes and I was only voicing my opinion as no one commented on it prior to me, no disrespect intended.

Was it a Corvette Bronze no console car?
