Don't store your Chevelle project in a leaky garage...wow. Obviously there's more going on that just damp storage, but hard to know where would you'd even start on this thing.

I am curious what could have happened to require the big stick weld on the inner fender.

I'm not sure there is enough love around to fix that car - so much hate there...so much! :dunno:

What was the purpose back then to coil the brake lines like that?

As far as I know it was to prevent the brake lines from cracking due to vibrations or body and frame flexing.

Yes,a built in vibration dampener.
