View Full Version : Tire date code
Goodyear Speedway Wide Tread GT
Just making sure this is a repop tire.
CYUYB3EX240 is the date code. Has DOT to the left of that.
Also trying to date a YH ralley wheel. Car is a March Z. Original wheel is in the trunk and I can't read the final digit. It is Feb 2, 21 or 27. Can someone tell me if one or more of those are known good dates. I think it is Feb 2, but my eyes keep wanting to see a second digit in the day code side.
BTW neither the tires nor the one YH wheel are for sale. Just looking for info.

I believe only february wheels were 26 thru 28th
Thanks Bill. Would that include the 27th? Looks to be a very faint stamp of a crooked verticl line that could be a 7. Could not get it to show up even with a close up pic.
Anyone have any info on that tire date code?

Here is a pic of the date code from an original.

Lynn,
Around May of 71 DOT introduced 11 character coding. The last three digits (two for the week and last for year)your example; week= 24th and 0 =year 1980 or 90. In 2000 they went to a 12 digit coding. Two for month and two for year 2211 = 22 week of 2011
Thanks Steve:
So, are you saying Goodyear still made this tire in 1980 or 1990?
What year did Goodyear quit making them? Are the new ones (repops) coded differently?
Thanks for any help.

After the year 2000 they changed to a 12 digit code. The later tires also have TWI script Tire Wear Indicator and Safety warning for over and under inflation began after the 70's.
